I mumble or do that when I'm writing something. I read mostly in silence except when I read: Poems, Greek Dramas, Shakespeare, and also anything not in English. Those things I read out loud even in spite of my futile efforts at stifling myself lol.

I can't speak nearly as fast as I read so no I normally do not do either. Once in a while I find myself whispering what I'm reading if it's noisy or am having a hard time focusing for whatever reason. I think it's a way to keep on track because you are getting auditory stimulation. It drives me crazy sometimes to watch people read who move their lips or vocalize.

It depends entirely on what I'm reading. If its a a novel, then no, I don't move my mouth or whisper. At work I have to read legal papers, legal cases, and various rules and sections of law. I find that I tend to whisper-read or move my mouth. Something about hearing out loud helps me make better sense of it. It also forces me to slow down and read it more carefully, which I find helps me better understand the legislation.

I don't move my mouth when I read but have been told that I make the facial expressions described in the book. I do read at my speaking speed though, it means it take me a while but I really absorb the book.

I only do that when I'm reading in a busy/loud place. Sometimes it helps me register more of what I'm actually reading. When it's super quiet I don't need to though.

I think that I learned to read with total silence and without moving a muscle from my attending a rough high school. It was treacherous there, with the Greek and Italian gangs shoving kids around all the time. Whatever the reason, I rarely move at all when reading. Eyes and page turning is all of it.

I do find myself muttering to myself when I'm working out an equation. Not long ago I ran an analysis, just for my own personal satisfaction, of calculating the Powerball lotto odds, even though I've never bought 1 lotto ticket nor ever will. This involved statistics and what's called "factorials" in math. And a few months ago I was calculating a hyperbolic function and comparing it to a parabolic function, and I know I was talking to myself during. "Lemme see... two standard deviations, mean function for this, and..." mumble mumble mumble... and of course my trusty HP scientific calculator helped reduce the mumble factor.

No, but my nose hairs dance around a little when I eat broiled fish.

I don't move my mouth when I read. I also have a problem reading ahead in my mind when I am reading out loud with my mouth.
