Reading in the car or other modes of transport?

Post by jordyn21 »

On long car rides or other modes of transport are you able to pass the time by reading ( if you are not driving obviously) or listening to an audio book ( if you are driving or not)?

I can not because I get extremely car sick from reading in a car or moving vehicle of any sort. So plane rides suck for me!

I know how you feel! There is nothing that can be done about it, I have tried everything. I don't even try to read anything anymore the only thing I can do on those long trips is sleep.

I'm so sad, up until a few years ago, I could read non-stop in the car! Now, the longest I can read is about 1/2 hour. Though I really can't complain, I guess I'm pretty lucky that I can still read on buses and planes. :D

I do take motion sickness pills (Meclzine - active ingredient in Bonine). That helps some. Sometimes I can read for hours in the car and other times I get sick even if I am the one driving. I haven't traveled in any other way than by car in a very long time... Not sure how I would do on a plane or train. Have a feeling that a bus would be worse than a car.

Since I am usually the one driving, the answer would be no :) I guess I should start considering audio books :D

As a student in school I had one of the longer bus rides both morning and night. In the morning I would rest my head against the window and sleep on the way to school and in the afternoon I would either do my homework or read a book. As an adult I rarely get a chance to read in the car. If someone else is driving I don't feel comfortable enough to read and when I am driving I don't read. Although I have been tempted to get those books on tapes so I could listen to them.

I can't read in the car as well, but I have no problems reading on the train or on the plane.

It's strange I can only read while sitting in the front seat, if I'm in the back seat I get extremely car sick.

I like to read in the tram and train but like others also mentioned I also have quite a bad case of motion sickness in cars and buses so find it more difficult. Although on short rides it can take my mind of it, but once I know I'm gonna be sitting for a long time I won't because it will definitely lead to some extreme queasiness.

Reading on the airplane is definitely a must though.
I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over.
