I found a letter informing someone that they had been dismissed from their job for gross misconduct - I burned it!

I’ve found a lot in second hand books; jewelry, bookmarks, notes, and even found pressed flowers in one.

In Louisa May Alcott's Eight Cousins I found a letter written by her to a classroom Ms. Alcott visited. I treasure it!

I have found: dried up leaves, gum wrappers, book markers, money, receipts, and random torn papers.

This is more me finding this interesting but... I like seeing secondhand bks with a library sticker on it. From somewhere I've never been. Because then it would feel like I have a little something of that place with me and it'd be like I went there too. Does that make sense?

I found an obituary cut from the paper in a book once, sad if the person forgot it was there!

Not in a second hand book but in a library book. It had a note written in pencil that said -
This book is amazing. Please read it whole-heartedly

Ones I found an old guiness almanaque with a list of people in it, with a note asking you to put your name and chose your favourite guiness record, it was interesting.

I know a lot of people like to buy new books without any markings, but the notes found in secondhand books are some of my favorite. I've found sweet messages in books that were gifted from one person to another and lots of underlining and notes in texts that deal with astrology, spirituality, and philosophy. It's always interesting to read the highlighted passages and wonder what made them stand out to the original owner.

I found a little note on blank receipt paper that said something along the lines of "hope you enjoy this book too, have a great day". It was so sweet, I carried it in my purse while reading the book then replaced it and returned the book to the library.

I bought a used Elfquest art book that turned out to be a first edition and also signed by Richard and Wendy Pini, various books with slips of paper with notes written on them, a picture of an old man from the turn of the century, and $20.

I found an old picture of a little boy. No name or date on the back, so I have no idea who he is. I still have the picture, can't bring myself to get rid of it. Maybe I should give him a name?

A dollar, a receipt, personalized messages are the best though :)
