I read every night before bed! It relaxes me and I find I sleep better when I read at night verses watching TV before bed.

I have to say, I have never read a book to fall asleep. Books usually have the opposite effect on me. They make me want to stay up and continue reading instead of going to sleep.

While I do like to read before I go to be, I often find that it actually ends up keeping me up instead. If it's something particularly engrossing, I will be up until 3 in the morning trying to finish it up. For me the thing that puts me to sleep is tv. My husband is the complete opposite. He gets very frustrated with me because I always fall asleep watching television.

I love reading in bed but it does the opposite of putting me to sleep. I end up staying up reading all night till the books done.

No. I can't even read while I'm lying in bed.

Yes! I usually have 2 to 3 books on my night stand, 1 of them is always something I'm interested in, but not enthralled by so I can fall asleep.

I have tried, but I usually end up getting so engaged with the book's story that I end up staying up later than expected.

Oh yes... I have tried sleeping sometimes, but it wasn't happening, so I resort to reading and the sleep came almost immediately

I read before bed to relax and to escape the thoughts about the day I had or the next day with all it's obligations and worries. So you could say I read to go to sleep, but it's just part of the winding down process, not that the book itself is so boring I conk out.

I actually haven't. Reading keeps me up instead of putting me to sleep lol! If I grab a book late at night, chances are I'll be reading for a long time.

I often use books to wind down at night and put away the screens. Although it's a bit of a gamble depending on the book because I may force myself to stay awake to read just ONE more chapter. There were a couple times in University that I picked up a textbook to actually make me fall asleep.

Yes. Have you ever not tried to a book on biochemistry. I kid. When I cannot sleep, I would rather read than watch TV. But sometimes if I am so interested in a book, I don't stop until the sun comes up...and then what's the point of sleeping.

I read before bed every night unless it's during my work shift. Eventually I get tired enough to go off.
