No, too frequently I read because I can't sleep. I try to get to good stopping point before bed but it doesn't always work. It's too good to put down!

I regularly listen to audio books at bedtime. I know there are some purists out there that will argue that audio books don't count, but I am a very audial person - I can hear and comprehend the spoken word as well if not better than words in written form. I most often have to replay the last twenty minutes of my bedtime stories because I've slept through it, but I love drifting off to sleep this way.

I tried to read myself to sleep just last night and ended up staying up until after 4am. So much for that.

I have fallen asleep many, many times while reading. I never do it intentionally however, but it does work. I only realize it after I wake from sleep the next morning with the book on my face or the floor :D

No because reading wakes me up. Even after I put the book down I continue to think about the story for awhile.

I've read so that I could finish a book and therefore fall asleep properly. I can't sleep if I'm in the middle of a book, it's so frustrating!

I do this all the time. Reading a little usually does the trick when it is late, but I can't quite fall asleep. Although if I am reading when I am that sleepy I may have to reread when I am more awake. This helps me a lot!

Yes, I take a book I have already read so it doesn't matter how much attention I pay to it and how fast I fall asleep.

I read at night to relax and take away stress so I can fall asleep better.

The best remedy to make me fall asleep is to let me read before going to bed. Works like a charm. I could really like the book but when my eyes start running through the words it works like hypnosis to me.

I have to read before bed every night, otherwise I can't fall asleep.

Sometimes, though, I am reading something so exciting, it has the opposite effect! It is often those which inspire my own writing, so I end up getting up and having to type out a load of ideas which have all got together in my head!

When I was younger I would read before bed every night. I used to have trouble sleeping so it would keep me occupied basically until I reached a point of exhaustion that would finally let me sleep. I also used to purposely read things I found boring to help me fall asleep... but then this unfortunate thing happened as I got older where basically everything is interesting... so reading keeps me up more than it every helps me sleep. haha But so technically I still read myself to sleep.

Does anyone have any suggestions for books that absolutely will put you to sleep? hahaha I might buy them just to help me sleep.

No I haven't read a book just to go to sleep. But I have fallen asleep while reading and I have read to wake myself up from being over tired.
