It was probably a book called The Babysitter from the old Point Horror series. They were hugely popular in the early 90s and began my love affair with horror books. I evolved to King before too long ha.

Harry Potter got me really hooked on books when I was a child; but when I was in high school, I discovered Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, and they introduced me to more foreign branches of literature.

For me when i was young, it was the goosebumps books, then i moved on to fantasy or sci-fi, and fell out of those quite recently actually. I like stuff more real now, passion, emotion, pure. So i read dramatical fiction now, it keeps me reading. :P

I get that reply a lot from people about books being boring. For me, it wasn't a book. I had just learnt to read and used to read about anything I saw so my mum got me some books.

Jurassic Park got me reading. I read that book when I was 10 I believe.

As a young girl, I've always been fascinated with the Encyclopaedia for the simple reason that it has a lot of interesting information about...everything! But what really got me started reading was the Goosebumps series by R.L. Stine. And then I found the magic in reading when I read the Harry Potter series and The Alchemist. I read The Alchemist because of my older brother. He was supposed to make a book report about but he's not interested in the book so I volunteered to do it for him.

I don't remember how old I was, maybe late grade school or early middle school, but I didn't like reading until I picked up this book. I think it was on my dad's bookshelf. I still have it :)

When I was still a little kid, my parents always told me African folk tales. I found them very entertaining so, as soon as I could, I devoured every story book I could lay my hands on. But if you mean Western books, then Harry Potter is probably the first one I read.

My mom read a lot of Enid Blyton stories to me as a child and my favorite was The Faraway Tree. One day, she decided I was old enough to read it myself and in a panic I had to learn how to read so I could hear my favorite stories again. I've been hooked ever since.

The Chronicles Of Narnia are the first books I remember reading myself. I still love them.

I was a stop and go reader at first so I have a few starter books. The first was The Giver. I read a few after that but it just didn't stick. Then I got a reboot on reading from (uh I know, just get over it) Twilight Saga. I read a few books after that but again it didn't last. Finally the book that dragged me in and held me to reading was no other than The Hunger Games. Yep Katnis and Peta was my anchor into the world of reading. Before long I'd read over a hundred books and counting. So a big thanks to the wonderful Suzanne Collins.

The Harry Potter series got me to love reading. I had the summer free and things just fell into place. I read them all in 2 weeks, was completely addicted and drawn into books couldn't get enough.

It was a teacher that got me really into reading - My 5th grade teacher Mrs Allen. She engaged my competitive streak. She told us that for every 1000 pages we read she would give us an icecream sundae. I won that contest. lol

Um, newspapers? Lol. Enid Blyton books. The first one I can remember reading is The Wishing Jug and Other Stories.
