Favortite Books...

Post by westburytf »

Hi everyone! I just joined the onlinebookclub and I was wondering what everyone's favorite books are. I really enjoy historical fiction, so if anyone has any suggestions then please list them.

I really enjoyed "The Ruins" by Scott Smith. Fans of Horror/Suspense would probably enjoy this book. They also made a movie of this book, but I didn't think it was anywhere near as suspenseful, and also there were some plot changes and a different ending. As far as I know, this is the only horror/suspense book Scott Smith has written, which is a shame, because this was one of the best books I have read in this category.

I have so many favorite books but a few of my favorites are...

The Monster Trilogy (Monster Island, Monster Nation and Monster Planet) by David Wellington (Zombie fiction)

The Necroscope series by Brian Lumley

The Nightside series by Simon R Green

anything Charles Bukowski puts on paper

Hmmm....WTF do I read any single books or is everything I like a series?

I hva read a lot of books, but the book I recently read, the day time was hacked, was a true mindblower for me. My kids mostly read Bernard Cornwell, but I liked the Doomsday Key, the last templar can't think of anytinhg else right now

As a newbie reader I've only read no more than 30 books. So far James Patterson's Maximum Ride series is what I'm loving right now. I also liked Dan Brown's novels but I hate how ingenuine his stories are.

That's all for now.

If you like historical fiction I highly recommend Shogun by James Clavell. It is about Japan around the 16th century if I remember correctly. It is one of my all-time favorites.
Other books that I loved, partial list because I am sure there area so many I forgot:

Wicked
Song of Ice and Fire series
Atlas Shrugged

I feel the same! I prefer series to single books. I one of my favorite is The Incarnations of Immoratlity series by Piers Anthony.

The Pillars of the Earth is a personal favorite. I'd also recommend some of the works from the Romantic period, like The Romance of the Forest by Ann Radcliffe.

Hmmm.... most favorite book of all time. That is a tough one. I'd have to stick with The Mayor Of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy.
