I never dog ear pages as a bookmark. I always find something to use as a bookmark.

I can't bring myself to dog ear pages, no. I really hate when people do that and feel as though it completely destroys the book. I have, however, on numerous occasions written in my books. I wont do it with pen since that is a permanant act, but if it's in pencil I feel like it's okay.

I honestly try not to. I have been known to do it though in extreme emergencies, like forgetting my bookmark somewhere else where I was sitting. However, I've been known to use just about anything as a bookmark. For example those annoying subscription cards that fall out of magazines or a used envelope. I work for a distribution center and many times our drivers will bring in scale tickets with these little trading cards glued inside. Those little cards make great book marks!

I always remember the page I'm on. Or leave it open, which is not so good for a book either.

Nope. It just makes the book look sloppy in my opinion. I rather use a bookmark.

Yes, I admit. I am always planning to get book markers but end up putting it off all the time.

Never have and never will. I try to treat my books as prized possessions. And also have you seen all the fabulous and awesome bookmarks out there, I think they are getting continuously more and more inventive. I only need one or two, but would happily buy about hundred thousand of them.

I almost always have a piece of paper or bookmark lying around, but if I don't for whatever reason, sure I'll dog-ear pages.

My first librarian always impressed upon us to never dog-ear the pages so I never got into the habit. Actually, my family jokes that I never actually read any of my books - they look like they just came home from the bookstore.

Me too, I use anything as a bookmark if I'm in a pinch like receipts or other disposable flat objects.

Nope! I find something to mark it or just remember the page if the couch ate my bookmark again. I only fold pages in my notes to mark how much new material I have to study; doing it to anything else bugs me.

I used to a lot, but only with my own books. If I'm borrowing a book (whether from a library or someone else) I make sure to give it back in the same condition it was lent in. Like most readers, I've found anything can be a bookmark.
