I only did that with my school books, but that's because I own more school books than any other kind. I don't feel like dog-earing pages because it feels like trashing the book so a bookmark would do. That's about it for me.

I use index cards as bookmarks for my books. They're cheap and usually thinner than bookmarks which can often be thick which is not good for book bindings. I do admit to dogearing favorite passages in my absolute favorite books just so I can find them again easily. But I only do it for passages that I've read so many times I have memorized them.

I avoided dogearing pages for a long time and then eventually I gave in out of convenience. However, now I can't bring myself to do it. I will find most anything available to use as a bookmark. Sometimes that's part of the fun.

If I don't have a bookmark nearby and have to leave right away. I don't mind doing it to my books, but I can't do it to books I have borrowed. I sometimes like looking through my older books and seeing what pages my younger self wanted to remember. (I rarely ever dog-ear pages to save my spot, I do it to mark a page I want to go back to)

It depends. If I am using something as reference material I usually do ear the page if am not allowed to highlight it. I think that using any sort of outward marker in that case would become way to jumbled if I had several dozen of them. For anything else I just use whatever is laying around to mark my spot, whether it is a bookmark, a food wrapper, a piece of string, or a pencil, anything at all, I will use it.

I was always fond of book pages because I knew they had to be handled gently. So, I never made dogears as book markers. I have a ton of book markers that have been heavily used over time. I am glad that the condition of my books are good as opposed to my book markers. There were times in school or on-the-go where I could not find a reliable book marker, which is when I contemplate the dogear method. However, I would then just memorize or take note of the page number that I was on.

No, never. I always use a bookmark, whether it is a piece of paper or a bookmark that I have purchased.

I did, when I was much younger. (We're not gonna talk about HOW MUCH younger -- LOL!) But, as I matured and my love of books grew, I came to respect the pages as "literary hallowed halls" and switched to bookmarks.

No I don't. Books are precious so I try not to damage them. I'd rather lose my place in the book than dogear pages.

I love bookmarks and hate dog ears...so there's my answer.

I've even printed, glued, and colored in my own book marks which were then laminated. And I like finding random things and papers to use as bookmarks.
Hi all. I like board games, card games, video games, books (especially children's books and mysteries), stories, cartoons, anime, manga, light novels, animation, and other light-hearted, fun things. Feel free to message if you want to chat!

No...I don't, I don't like it. To me, it defaces the book. I also hate it when people do it to books I give them, can be very annoying

I use bookmarks. My husband does that to my daughters books to show her where she left off and it makes me cringe.

I don't dog-ear. I get books from the library, donate and sell books I am finished with so I try to keep them in good condition. I use an index card or piece of paper to mark my pages and make notes. Later I transfer all the notes and quotes to a notebook as a reference.

I used to dogear shopping magazines as a kid to let my parents know what I liked. Magazines always felt more dispensable unless they were made of weighted paper or spine to them.
