Do you dogear pages as a book marker?

Post by obiebookworm »

I used to when I was a kid, until I found out that dogearing weakens book pages. I've been using book markers (or scrap paper) ever since.

Dogearing book pages is one of my biggest pet peeves. I always make sure I mark my page with something else, or basically whatever is around me. One time, I used a straw wrapper. I've used gift cards...you name I have probably used it to mark my place in a book. Whenever I lend a friend a book I always put a bookmark in there for them so they won't dogear my pages.

I never do it either. I won't do it with books people lend either. I've done it with library books but I try not to. I'd sooner try to remember the page. I usually try to end on a chapter anyway so that I can remember where I ended at. I usually use a piece of paper or index card if I don't have a bookmark handy.

I never do, since I hate damaging books, and folding a page leaves it with a permanent mark.

For some reason this really bothers me, even though I'm OK with people writing in books etc. It's at most a 4 digit number, just remember it...

Noooo, not ever! It's a huge pet peeve of mine. It actually kills me a little inside every time I see someone fold a page, or, even worse, fold the ENTIRE PAPERBACK BOOK to read the page. *shudder*

no, never ever!! the thought in itself sends shivers down my spine.. I feel that books have life and I hate someone folding pages like that. Customized bookmarks are available in the market n still people have this horrible habit to dogear pages. Another equally annoying habit is when people wet their fingers with their tongue and then turn pages in a book. It is horrible to see such things and hence it becomes difficult to share books with others. I even hate people marking lines with dark pens on books or even worse write unnecessary things in the book...

No I don't. I'd hate to damage the book that way. Besides, bookmarks are so much fun!

I got in trouble in second grade for folding the corners of the pages, so I haven't ever since.

Nope, and I can't stand getting a book that has been dog-eared. I do however dog-ear pages in ads or magazines that I own.

I have done it but only to library books. I hate having marks in my books. I just remember my page, no bookmark.
