What makes a Character truly memorable?

When they make a change for the better or overcome something unexpectedly. I think characters who are more than expected or not like they're expected to be are pretty memorable.

Characters with flaws and unique but "real" quirks makes them more memorable to me. One with a wicked sense of humour as well. Characters who are confident but not arrogant.

Showing both good and bad side of the character is what makes the character memorable. The one who is strong and independent in a positive way. The one who seems and feels realistic.

A memorable character for me is usually a brave, stoic person. He or she has obstacles to overcome in their journey and he/she has their struggles, but ultimately overcomes them.

For me, it is the personality of the said character. If the character can be built in such a way that he/she is fascinating, that would be memorablr.
