I'm the same way with romance! The last book I read, I thought it was going to be about murder. It was just about how long it takes to ditch their family in the middle of a cruise so they could bang. Never mind half the horny couple was an assassin supposedly worried about being whacked herself. They're all just maddeningly unbelievable. I avoid dramas as well. Books are for enjoyment, not to relive the worst parts of reality.anomalocaris wrote: ↑30 Apr 2014, 10:26 Modern Lit-fic, because the current fad is for completely unappealing characters, and because the genre takes itself way too seriously.
Romance, because I can't get excited about whether 2 people I don't know end up in bed together. When they try to mix it with other genres, the characters come across as eejits, because they're supposed to be dealing with some serious situation, and they instead they act like sex-crazed teenagers. Like, "He knew his best friend would bleed to death if he didn't get some pressure on the bullet wound, but right now the only pressure he could think of was the pressure of her body on his..."

Oh my god, I think I know which book you’re talking about. I thought the book was also very thriller centric, but it just focused on the couple and their lust. I felt so annoyed because I was actually interested in the main characters back story, but noooo the story had to be focused on their uncontrollable desire towards one another.JodyVamp wrote: ↑16 Mar 2018, 01:39I'm the same way with romance! Watching a horror movie? I can do that But No horror novel.
When I read I feel too much! Thanks to my vivid imagination. It's like everything is really happening and then it's always on my mind. Everything I read leaves an effect on me and I don't want this kind of spooky effect!
