I usually steer away from Sci-fy. I just can't keep interested in the plot. I feel like, at least for the ones I have attempted to read, there is too much detail and not enough dialogue.

Horror has never been my favorite but I love Sci-fi which can be scary so that's kinda goofy. I tend to steer clear of erotic romance for the most part. I have read the occasional one but mostly I would rather just enjoy a story built on something other than sex.

Absolutely none.

I have genres I prefer but I'm more concerned about avoiding particular authors. If I'm on a train journey I'll read anything I can find to cover the time. To be fair, it would have to be a very long train journey before I'm tempted to read a book about sport, or a Harlequin romance etc, but I have.

Ok I can agree on a dash or a sprinkle of romance in a novel. Like a chapter or part of a chapter can be interesting and help evolve or bring depth between two characters relationships. To have a book solely or entirely based around romance, to me, is not my forte. I believe it overly explains love and relationships. If not, it surely over exaggerates them...

I don't like horror anything whether it's books, movies or tv shows. I steer clear of vampires, werewolves and aliens as well, except for things like Star Trek and Star Wars.

Non-fiction, horror, historical fiction, and those butt spanking and torturing on the name of pleasure books.

I like most genres but I tend to avoid anything that is religious or preachy i.e Christian fiction. I wouldn't be a fan of erotic fiction either or books heavily themed in warfare.

Science fiction and History are the last two genres I look at at the library or when purchasing a new book. I find it hard to relate to these genres and usually end up rushing through the book so I can start something else that I have more interest in. I wouldn't rule them out completely, but as I said they are the last stop, and usually I have my arms full by the time I get there.

These are not my cup of tea: finance-business kind of stuff, sports book, erotic novels, romance fictions, religion, and .... let me think.

I don't really like sci-fi unless it's a really well written book that is believable. Or anything with animals or non-human things talking. Ughh!

Horror and erotic. I also don't care for most lyric poetry.

I have steered clear of Mystery for a while, because I feel like the plot is more important than the word flow. I enjoy the art of forming words into sentences into pictures in your mind. I feel like this art is lost in most mystery pieces.
