Religious book it is annoying when your reading and you have to be searching for the Bible verses they make reference to; and there is a lot of them so really your reading two books at once.

I am not into cooking or any type of home, garden and decor books. I am also not a big fan of self-help books although I will find one that is ok every now and again.

I steer clear of this one genre that has refused to die,BDSM(I dont actually know if this is a real genre). This is because by the end of the books I am usually fuming mad at all the characters.

Non-Fiction is usually what I stay away from. I don’t really like it with a few exceptions because it’s based on a true story or event. I like to use books as an escape so I don’t want to read depressing novels. There is enough bad things going on in the world everyday & with books I want an adventure into another world/life. If I wanted to read depressing things I would read a newspaper. Religion, self help books, psychology, etc none of these are the genre I would ever read or enjoy.

Romance, it's usually too dramatic and ridiculous for me.

I usually steer clear of biographies of historical figures and romance novels. I find biographies too detailed and drawn out sometimes and romance novels that don't have any other plot line are too one-dimensional for me and I typically find romantic scenes very cliche and unrealistic.

Romance. Most of the time it feels forced and unrealistic.

I don't like sci-fi because it scares me to think of what might come. I'm afraid of space too. It's too big.

Romance novels usually bore me, and inspirational novels don't quite inspire me.

I read most everything. The genre I read the least would be westerns. I like mystery, romance, and thrillers the most.

I avoid horror stories.

I try to stay away from thrillers and horror books. Though the suspense can be a rush, I can't handle how scary they are. I can't even watch scary movies. I'm either turning away from the scary part or yelling at the characters to do (or don't do) certain thinks. I'd rather get my suspense from mystery novels.

I avoid romances.

I'm jaded and don't believe much in romance as portrayed in books, lol! And, I've become a bit of a snob about it, I'm sorry to say. If I read a novel that ends up with a romance-related sub-plot, I may or may not pay attention to it. :snooty:

Pure escapist romances. It definitely does not suit a chronic loner like me.
