Yes, I always start at the beginning. Exception being if I read a book and then discover it's a part of a series. But even then, I don't tend to go backwards.
Life without a good book is something MrsCatInTheHat cannot imagine.

A couple of months ago I would have said, "Obviously!" But now, I'm not so sure. If it's a series that I am genuinely interested in and really want to be invested in, I have to. There's no other way than chronologically. But in the past few months, I've been reviewing books for authors and occasionally, it's a sequel. I'm alright with reading out of sequence then, maybe because my emotional investment isn't as high starting out?

Yes. And nothing annoys me more than series that don't label their books with numbers. Especially when it's actually important to read them in order (like with The Dresden Files). Fortunately, Goodreads can be useful for finding series book order.

I always read books of a series in chronological order. It would bug me to no end not to know the genesis of a book.

I prefer to read them in order. But it has happen that i read a book and than i find out that its part of a series. Which i have to admitt is a bit annoying. But its not the end of the world or anything.

I just did that with the Shardlake Series i bougth Lamentation and liked it so i looked up the author and than i saw that it was part of a series. And that this was the newst book. I first found out after i had finished reading the book.

I apologize for my crappy spelling and grammar.----grammer......... well you know

When I find an author that I like, I will try to read all of his or her books, starting with each series read in order. Then I will read the rest of his stand alone books. I hate when I accidentally read a book without realizing that there are book(s) that take place before hand.

I will even make use of certain popular websites to make sure that I am reading the series in order.

It only makes sense to read a series in order.

I prefer to dead the first book and then read through the series. I do t like it when I find a book and later realize it's the day third in a series.

Obviously, who would want to get spoiled on one of their favorite series? I feel that it's sort an unspoken rule, and that if you don't follow it, you're ruining the experience.

Absolutely! If I can't read books in a series out of order, because I like to read the progression. Some book series- the first isn't that great, but the second or third or whatever might be, and so I always kind of have that in the back of my head if the first book is mediocre or not really fast paced. For instance, I loved the first Twilight book, but I felt New Moon was way better. I liked the first Hunger Games book, but thought the 3rd was the best. I didn't care for the first Everlost book, but I was in love with the second and third books.

Almost always. The only exception to this are the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett. Even there, I try to read the individual "topics" in logical story order.

Always! The exception to that rule are the Chronicles of Narnia series. Those are more of a start with bin six, go to five, then do one through four and ends with seven. I think I have that chronology right...
It's amazing to see the world through the eyes of children. It's more fun to read with them, too.
