Most of the time I honestly do not read a whole complete series. I have found the majority of them to be close to a movie sequel and they just don't seem to do it for me.

I must read them in chronological order so that I can understand the next book as well as avoid spoilers.

I feel like it depends on the series but mostly yes. Some books are just a spin off or stand alone novels in which it doesn’t matter the order. Even those though I like to read in order incase a spoiler is accidentally in the book. So the order is definitely important to me.

Absolutely! There's no fun otherwise. I haven't even considered the possibility that I don't have to!

Absolutely, I cannot imagine reading a series out of order or skipping books, series are meant to be read in order!

Generally I do because I feel like I've missed something crucial to the story even if the author says that it is not necessary to read the series in order. I do have this weird thing though where I sometimes read the last page of the book after I've read a chapter or two in the beginning.

Unless the books in the series could be a standalone, I guess it's okay not to read in chronological order. But personally, it feels chaotic if I don't follow the order haha.

If it's the first time I'm reading them then yes, it has to be in chronological order. But if I'm re-reading them, sometimes I'll choose somewhere in the middle of the series.

I always read the books of a series in a chronological order since it helps me understand the flow of events better.

Yes, I would read a book in chronological order. Otherwise, I get lost in the middle and can't follow the storyline of the book series.

Yes! I "absolutely have to" read series in order. I especially like to read them one behind the other, too. I will purchase all the books before I begin reading the first one.

Yes, I always read the books in chronological order. I can't even imagine reading it out of order, I feel like it would ruin the whole story.

What an interesting question- I don't think I've ever met somebody who DOESN'T read books in chronological order! The only series that comes to mind would be The Chronicles of Narnia, which you can read in two different ways.

I have come across some books in Kindle Unlimited that say they can be read as a series, or in chronological order. I read one called Avian by Emma Pullar that was promoted this way. I enjoyed the book, but afterwards realised that it would have been the second in the series. I haven't felt compelled to read the first book now, because I feel like the story would already be spoiled for me.
