Most times I immediately start a new book as soon as I finish one . I'm a chain reader :)

It depends; if I like the previous book, I'll start immediately, if I have it, I'll wait a few days.

Some books have a serious impact on me, especially thrillers. When I read The Good Girl, I couldn't pick up another book for a couple weeks. I guess to let the shock settle in.

If it's part of a series the next installment is almost always started right away. Otherwise if nothing in my to read pile raises any interest, it might be a little while before I find that next great read.

I'm the opposite of the first post here. If I love a book, it takes me a day to get over it. I need time to come out of that world and re-enter life I guess.
If I didnt like a book, I need some time to rant then find a book I love, usually turning to something tried and true before trying something new.

Books are my number thing in life. So once I finish one, whether it is a real book, or on one of my apps it's exciting for me to look for a new one to read right away.

If i really love a book, i usually dwell on it for a day or two maybe, obsess myself over it and sometimes reread some of the scenes i like but if hate a book after I've finished it, i usually start a new one right away to remove all traces of the bad book. Lol

It depends on how emotionally invested I am in the previous book. Sometimes I need some time to process what I have just read. I tend to like books that make me think, so this can happen a lot. Also, like someone else said, I like to take a break between books so I can get other things done. I sometimes feel like a drug addict when I'm reading because I can disappear from my family for long stretches of time and I'd rather read than do other things. I need to have some balance. If it is a light read then I can just jump into the next book and it isn't so consuming. I can put it down when I need to.

I always start a new book immediately after finishing another one. Then again, as a student, I have to carve out time for it, so finishing it is usually a lot harder for me.

When I finish a really good book, I usually have this kind of hazy feeling in my brain and it takes a couple hours to ease back into the world because my mind is still caught up in the characters and the plot and general musings on what the rest of their lives could have been like. Good books build worlds that are so good and tangible that I could just think about them and wonder about them for hours and honestly, starting a book so soon after a good book seems insulting. But if the book was unsatisfying or just okay, I usually find myself reading a new book or watching a movie or something more fulfilling soon afterwards.

I don't wait. I start a new book immediately unless I can't decide which to start.

Wait to start a new book? Not likely! In fact, I usually have more than one book going at the same time. I'm addicted to reading.
