I loved 1984 by George Orwell. I tend to lean towards science-fiction and dystopian novels in my personal reading so this story was right up my alley. I think this was one of the only required books that I read fully and I am planning on rereading it soon!

Quite a few actually, because I've always loved to read so much. But here's a few of the highlights off the top of my head. (Note: some of these titles were enjoyable because the teacher who taught them had such a passion for the book and led a great discussion. For instance, Hamlet is the only book by Shakespeare that I every really liked. I think it was because my teacher really brought it to life).

Hamlet
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
1984
Animal Farm
To Kill a Mockingbird

To Kill A Mockingbird, The Crucible, Of Mice and Men were some of the required reading in school I enjoyed.

'A Tree Grows in Brooklyn' is one of my favorite books too. I think I'm gonna have to reread it. :)

Honestly, I was less than impressed with the books we had to read. (I think kids should have more say-so in choices so it may help them enjoy reading more.) But, of all the ones I read, the only three I enjoyed were 'To Kill a Mockingbird,' 'Bridge to Terabithia', and 'Diary of Young Girl.' Everything else was bland.

Some required reading, and there was a lot, that I enjoyed reading was The Call of the Wild, Brave New World, and Of Mice and Men. I would probably require students to read Confessions of an Economic Hitman.

Even though I've always loved to read, I didn't like being told what to read in school. Most of the time I didn't read what was assigned because the book didn't interest me. The only book I did read was April Morning by Howard Fast. I'm uncertain as to why I decided to read it since historical novels aren't of interest to me but I did enjoy it.

Of Mice and Men.

At the time, being a young teen and at a point in life when I didn't enjoy reading, and use to think of it as uncool, even though it was required reading, I never even read it. I watched the movie instead. I still managed to get an A for the class.

However growing up and maturing, I have re-read it and definitely enjoyed it

Othello...I shall forever be grateful to a brilliant teacher for helping me to appreciate Shakespeare. Otherwise I enjoyed To Kill A Mocking Bird.

My favorites were To Kill a Mockingbird, A Wrinkle in Time, Great Expectations, and almost anything by William Shakespeare.
However, Shakespeare may have been because the teacher was from England & his accent added a certain flare.

So many of the books I had to read were well taught and interesting.
I LOVE the Awakening! It wasn't required reading at my school, I just sort of stumbled upon it in high school and fell in love. It is, by far, my favorite book.

I really enjoyed all the required reading materials. We read the typical Shakespeare, Great Gatsby, Lord of the Flies, Wuthering Heights, 1984, Brave New World, etc. There is one book I remember disliking, but feel as though I should try reading it again now that I'm older. It was called Heart of Darkness.

Whenever I would read, I was always way ahead of my class, so all of the books that I read in school felt way to babyish. I would just zip through the required book and then pick up my other book that I will enjoy.
