I don't write in my books per se, I use a lot of sticky notes and colored tabs to either note something down or mark a quote or chapter.
I do, however, underline a few quotes that I feel are very nice or relatable.
I don't do this for all of my books, only the ones that I really, really, really like. That way I feel like I've made the book completely mine.

I wrote in books a bit in college, but could never do it now. Some of my personal books find their way into my classroom, and if my students are going to be reading them, I'd prefer that they have a clean copy.

Okay...so I'm a bit torn on this. I will write in some text books or underline terms and such. However, I WILL NOT write in a book I read for pleasure. I find it distracting and a bit disrespectful towards the author. If I want to write a note for later, I usually attach a sticky note to the page.

No, I don't do it. I don't have a grudge against people who do, however. If you own the book and you get the best experience reading while writing in the book, then go for it. I distinctly remember reading a book around fourth or gift grade in which the main character was a bookworm who loved to write in books. Young Me thought that so cute and quirky, so I decided to start writing in the book I was reading at the time and gave up after ten pages or so. I still have that book today :)

I do it sometimes but I'm learning not to do it again.

I don't write in books. All notes that I have to make, are done in a notebook. I find that books with writings on the margins look messy.

I hate it very much. Any kind of book that has writing in it, I can not wait to get ride off. With buying used books this is one of my fears, thought I tend to not buy them, since most of said books are in bookstores.

Everyone does whatever they want as long as it's their property. I personally don't like to write on my books, but that's just me.

I don't mind if people write in their own books. In mine is where I draw the line. Maybe the price and name at the beginning but in the middle I normally feel irritated. There's a reason why notebooks exist, right.

If I am studying, Yes. But otherwise, I normally don't take notes while reading (unless for doing an intensive book review of course)

I LOVE writing in books, but I also taught high school English. Vocab words, interesting facts, important details, etc., all get marked. Sometimes a portion will remind me of another book, and I write that down.

I normally would never mark up my book but if it’s a book for self-help or an educational book (like for college), I would take notes or mark it up.

Writing in books used to horrify me, but after joining a local book club, I write in my books now. We compare our book notes when we meet.
