I've done that before but I realized I should probably not be doing that.

No. My first requirement in choosing a bok is the title rhen the summary of rhe book. I only look at the book cover after I'm halfway reading the book. That is to check if the book cover is relevant to the content of the book.

I generally won't judge the book completely over the cover. But the cover always provides a first impression about the books. Hence I always prefer authors chose the best cover pages for the books.

When I was a little girl, that is how I picked books. If a book had an animal on its cover, then I figured it was worth reading. I don't think I ever ran across a book I didn't like using that method. The most uncharacteristic book chosen in that manner for me was John Steinbeck's The Red Pony; it didn't fit into the norm. Now I rarely ever judge a book by its cover, even knowing the genres of many different writers doesn't really guarantee much about the story. Some writers do well in so many different genres.

A good cover always piques my interest but it is not what makes me want to read it. I always read the summary on the back and sometimes the first page or so before I decide. There is so much that makes a good book that I cannot judge it by just it's cover.

Yes, the cover can easily captivate me and I could be the reason I choose that specific book over another. I have judged the content of many books by the cover and I can say I judge correctly 90% of the time.

A book with a pretty cover sure gets my attention. But I wouldn't read it just because of that. I pick books based on the summary. Does this story sound like something I'd enjoy? If the question isn't answered to my satisfaction then the book cover can't convince me either.

No, I don't. Although a beautiful cover attracts me, I read the summary or reviews of a book before going for a book.

Nope. A good cover might cause me to pick up the book, but if the opening chapter / prologue is not good, then I'll close it and move on to the next one.

Yes and no. I would pick a book based on its cover, but its summary is the deciding factor for me. If the summary seems promising then yes, if not I'll drop it.

However, I don't think I'd pick the book in the first place if it had a bad cover.

I won't read a book simply for its cover, but the covers catch my attention first so those are the ones I tend to get anyway. Thankfully, I end up enjoying most of the books I get anyway.

That's is my case too. Sometimes I don't judge the books by their covers and other times I do judge them by their cover.

Sadly, yes. Some of the covers on this site seem cheesy to me, but after reading the reviews, I find that I’ve done it again: I’ve judged incorrectly and almost missed out on a great novel because of a poorly chosen picture.
