I only read the summary of the book and maybe the author biography if its an author I'm not familiar with. The only exception is when I see an author I love praising the book, then I eat up every word.
All I need is a new book and a place to read it...

I think it's the surest way to buy THE book you KNOW you'll most likely commit to and enjoy.

I have also experienced the opposite but it's very rare. When you read the covers and scanned the pages only to buy it and not feel so excited about the purchase.

However, for the most part, pre-reading is the best advice I'd give someone looking to purchase anything.
Money is tight so to buy something without being sure you want it, could be a waste of time, effort and money for you in the end.
I'm sure the author and the publishing company will be glad you did!

Yes. I like to read the cover, the summary, and usually I at least skim the acknowledgements and the book reviews.

Yes! I always the read summary, and if I'm not sure about the book I'll read reviews as well. I don't read about the author until I've finished the book though.

Yes, always. Usually it's really helpful for picking out a book. Oddly enough, though, there have been times when the book description turned me away from a book that I later read and enjoyed.

Yes, but these days I am much more wary of the data there. Often times I will check Amazon or some other source first, especially if it is a writer I am not familiar with. This is because I am finding that often the copywriter seems to have not even read the book and only knows a synopsis of it. Sometimes the description is quite far off. Then I end up disappointed because I was expecting something else.

Yes, every single time. They give a lot of information about the book, let me predict whether I would like the book or not, and are usually very interesting too.

Religiously! Especially if it's a memoir and I'm trying to figure out if they married someone or had babies.

I read the description. There isn't really anything else on a regular book cover that interests me.

Sometimes I'll read the reviews, but usually I'll just read the summary until I'm done with the book. If I loved the book I'll read authors notes and the author bio.

Yes, it helps me see what the books is about, if I will want to read it, and gives me an idea of the author's background.
