I would do everything in my power to prevent that - petition, protest, etc. Our communities need libraries!

I suppose I would do the same. Protest, make a petition. My hometown library was a safe haven for me I guess you could say and I know library's still provide that for a lot of young avid readers.

The responses and even the OP above seem to me to mis-read or avoid the question. The question is not What would you do if libraries might be forced to close??' in which case fighting to keep them open would be a good response.

The question is "What would you do if libraries were [IN FACT] forced to close?"

I'd have to increase my book budget and buy more books. maybe get an e-reader.

An individual library and I'd be head of the petition committee...ALL libraries? I really don't want to live that long...

I would be depressed! Protest for sure. I think it's vitally important that we continue to have access to free literature. I wish more people took advantage of such an awesome system!

I would cry. I hang out at the library a lot especially since my husband works later than me and we carpool. It's a place for me to go to get away and have some peace and quiet and be surrounded by lovely books.
