I used to take what I read to heart and the ending usually affect my feelings, so I stopped allowing stories to get to me good or bad.

I once read a book I hated the ending part so much that I had to end the story my way and erased the story entirely from my mind. It was that bad it filled my mind, I was just too annoyed until I told myself, it was only a fictional stuff before I began to calm down about it.
I didn't like how it ended at all.

Of course, I find book ending annoying all the time. However, I do understand that authors reserve the rights to determine how books end.

I get disappointed with the book ends if the author killed the character who deserved to live more. Arghhhh! Why...

All the time! I think I read too much and watch too much movies. I can predict throughout the book what is going to happen and sometimes predict the ending. 80% of the time I am disappointed with the endings of the books I read.

My last review was a disappointing ending. The description set it up as this ominous tragedy was going to occur -- never did. Then the author mentioned at the very end she found out she had cancer, and boom! THE END.

Many many times, unfortunately. I get over attached to my characters and I at times just want to always be with them if the book is really good. But there was a book I read by Chimmamanda Ngozi Adichie, Half of a yellow sun. The main character's sister left home one day to find something and never came back. She never told us what happened to her and that has remained with me to this day. I am not okay, LOL.

It did happen a few times that I got disappointed with a book ending.

I get frustrated when a book has a good storyline and buildup only for the ending to be abrupt and rushed. so disappointing.

The first time I read a book by Fitzgerald (Tender is the Night), I was so disappointed by the ending. I had not been exposed to that genre of book yet, so it was not pretty

Of course. But mostly I am disappointed when a really great book ends, no matter what the ending, as it almost feels like the end of a friendship with the characters. Corny but true.

Sometimes! I can usually overlook an ending as long as the majority of the story still sold me. The ending does, however, have the ability to leave a lasting impression, and many authors struggle to truly capture this.

I didn't love how Childhood's End concluded. Still a worthwhile read. I suggest going through the book before the miniseries.

The ending of American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins disappointed me. I have to agree that the ending was realistic and believable, but I still felt that the characters deserved a happier ending, after all, they had been through.

Yes and similar to you it's when I think of how it should end and the book goes in another direction.
