I absolutely picture actors in my mind while reading! This is what makes reading fun! The book that's most significant to this would be 50 Shades of Grey. How could you not picture the characters? This isn't the first book where that's been true, of course, but I think it's universally true for all readers of that series.

Always picture this. It makes the story more vivid and fun.

This is kind of weird... but when I read Twilight (I admit it! I'm sorry!), I totally pictured Robert Pattinson as Edward and my friend told me I was crazy because he's English and the voice wouldn't be right. But I thought his voice was perfect. Anyway, I can't believe I just admitted this!

It depends a lot.
When certain characters fit the description of some actor I may know, then BAM, I suddenly can't unsee it, so I start picturing that same actor as the character.
There's also that problem of when I start reading a book that already has a cover for the movie or if I watched the movie before reading the book. I really can't picture anyone different because of it. It's annoying sometimes.

Not always, but sometimes. If the shoe fits, I must wear it. We all have our favorite celebrities. It's natural for your mind to link visuals of book characters to actors or familiar movie roles.

Twilight was great! I loved the books, and Rob Pattinson made a great Edward. :D

When I read I don't picture actors I picture people I don't know and that is why 9 times out of 10 when a book is adapted into a movie I'm disappointed in who plays the characters. I picture people they describe

I usually try to picture my own version of the characters. However if I were to reread any of the Twilight novels I feel that I wouldn't help but to picture the actors from the movies.

I don't do this, unless a film adaption is out and I already have the actors very ingrained in my head.

It depends. Sometimes the description is so well done that my mind makes up an image of the character; while other times certain actors remind me of characters and vice versa.
(I've also been known to think of actors as the character if I have seen the movie recently. Or before reading the book, like I did with the Hunger Games.)

Not really. When reading novels, sometimes I picture the main characters as the characters on the covers. For example, the City of Lost Souls and Jace.

Only if I've seen the movie already. I usually try to read the book first though; the books are always better.

Not really, I think I draw a mental picture of what I think the character would look like. If they make a movie later, sometimes they are spot on, but other times not so much. Two characters that I have very strong visual pictures for, is Jamie and Claire from the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. I can't think of a single actor or actress that would fit my picture - of course that is probably why I am not a casting director.
