I don't remember what book turned me onto reading because I have loved to read since I learned how. Outside of the Bible, the earliest books I can remember reading are the Encyclopedia Brown books and I read most of the Nancy Drew books that were available in the school library.

The BFG by Raold Dahl turned me on to reading. It was a lovely book. I remember vividly being in the 4th grade and issuing the book from the school library. It was the best thing in the world !

I think it was the Series of Unfortunate Events starting in third grade that really got me addicted to this reading obsession.

I was quite young, probably four or five. It was actually my first book I had ever read all by myself: Fun With Dick and Jane!(:

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter when I was in middle school. I really didn't understand it much, but I knew there was pain and heartbreak and I wanted more of it.

Whew, this is really going to show my age.

My first real memory of reading myself was probably the Six Little Bunkers series... I don't think I read all of them, just a few of them. I was not very old at all. And then Charlottes Web. The Little Women series. Somewhere in there was Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn books. And then probably the Catcher in the Rye and To Kill a Mockingbird (one of the few books I read more than once, I love(d) that book).

For me it really was not a book that turned me to reading, my mom did. She would always take my brother and I to the library and she would read to us all the time. But the books i loved reading in elementary school were the Little Women diaries because they took me back in time as I read them. I also loved the Bailey School Kids series because I enjoyed the mysteries.

I was in 3rd grade when one of my teachers introduced me to the Chronicles of Narnia. After that I stopped reading anything with less than a hundred pages.
