I think my primary reading disruption is my own mind, unfortunately.
If my brain is cooperating and I'm reading a good book I tend to tune out extremely well, for better or worse. lol

At times, though, my mind races and doesn't let me soak in the words I'm reading, which can be incredibly frustrating.

Sometimes I push through it, re-reading paragraphs as many times as necessary, but other times I have to put the book down and come back to it later.

Usually very loud noises from outside my room/apartment. I can cope with being hungry or thirsty, needing more water or to cook a mean for myself, but where I live, there are a great deal of ambulances and fire engines on maneuvers in the evenings so it can be hard to get into a reading mode unless I have classical music on in my ears. It's a vicious circle indeed.

When I'm reading a good part in the book and someone keeps asking me what am I reading, what is the book about and why am I smiling. I'm just like, Please leave me alone for a second.

My fiance does this too and it drives me nuts! I know he means well but sometimes i want to shush him.

My brother will come into my room and just start being an a-hole in the middle of reading time.

When someone snatches the book i'm reading from me(I just graduated from high school and my classmates then felt that i read too many novels in a short space of time :techie-reference: ). When i'm absorbed in a book i'm usually almost completely lost :?: and someone shouting in the background has the effect of an electric fans hum to me. The only other thing that gets me annoyed is when someone continuously taps me.

Having to go to work! And then having to work from home when there aren’t enough hours in the day. I need to work to fund the book habit so it’s a bit of a vicious circle!

When you are really into a book & someone keeps asking you questions every few minutes that it interrupts your rhythm, sometimes you have to reread & they continuously do this even though they know their bothering you. Needing to sleep sucks too I like to read the book all the way through.

People asking me unimportant questions that require thinking and answering. Somebody asking me what I'm reading, asking what the book is about, asking to see the book cover, telling me I look so serious reading, telling me I read all the time, don't I ever do anything else…
That became a lot longer list than I thought…

Crying baby! It annoys me very much. Otherwise, until someone starts talking to me personally, nothing disturbs me.
A joke is to entertain people. If it fails to do so, it's something else!

This, and any other jarring and disruptive noises, such as erupting laughter, barking dogs, and drilling machines. I also can't tolerate people chatting loudly at my direction. Let just say, it brings out the worst in me...
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.
