The probability of the book coming back in good condition or it even coming back at all is low...so i don't like lending my books

I love my books than my friends, so I don't like lending out my books to others

I find a good book and I want to share it with everybody, I get so excited and expect everyone else to get excited too. Then it is never returned and I am trying to build collections of certain ones and it upsets me greatly.

I do, actually. This is maninly because I love to share the books that I got really attached to. The only problem with it is the fact that I always end up making the mistake of lending them to anyone I'm friends with and I've lost a large number of books that way. I don't lend books as often as I used to partially as a result of that and partially because all my friends live pretty far away.

No because I hardly ever get them back. Loaned some books to a friend and didn't get them back for five years!

I lend out books all the time. I guess that I am lucky as they usually come back in good condition.

I just love giving someone a book that I read that I think is really good and to have them read it and tell me their opinion. The one book that has been lent out the most is "The Oath" by Frank Peretti, at least 10 people have been lent this book and it is still going strong in the lending category.

I like the idea, but the few times I have they take so long to be returned that I get nervous - did they lose the book or something? I'm a bit possessive of my books and don't mind admitting it :)

Not at all! I hate lending anything, let alone my books. Nothing ever comes back in good condition, if it comes back at all. No one takes care of anything that they don't hold value. Every time I've lent out any of my belongings, it's either lost or destroyed. And I especially hate how people treat soft cover books, how they fold it back like it's a spiral notebook. No lending, but I will definitely tell you where you can obtain your own copy.

I dislike it because of bad experiences. If I think a book is good, I would rather buy it as a gift than borrow my version of it.

I do like lending books to responsible people for one, and people who are interested in reading the book. I really do enjoy the heated discussions when the book is being returned or I am returning the books.

Yes and no...
Yes, for it means that they get read, and if I don't get them back, I usually get a response instead that they like it. I count it as their gift for the year when this happens. I have turned many people to certain books and series due to this and I am always thrilled when I have turned on the light of love for books.
No, for the (admittedly selfish) reason that I always lose books this way, and sometimes I get a sentimental attachment to them, and I don't wish to lose them so easily. I cannot tell you how many books I've lost over the years.

This is a great question. I love lending my books and sharing these great stories with others on one condition: they bring the book back! There is nothing like lending a book and never seeing it again!

Sadly I'm more likely to let someone borrow a movie hah but most likely if someone I care about wanted to read something I own I'd be willing. I just hope that they don't get it wet or fold any of the pages hah

I really don't like lending out my books. The only people I lend to without obsessing over it is my direct family.
