I was just wondering if anyone knew of any good love/romance novels...ones that are relatively *clean*...what I am saying is, I get so tired of reading trashy parts in books.

Also, I am a horse enthusiast and I love to read adult horse novels. Does anyone else know of any good titles? I have read both "Riding Lessons" and "Flying Changes" by Sara Gruen (who also wrote "Water for Elephants). I enjoyed all three of her books.

Oh! And one more thing...I am drawn to "old fashion" sort of books...I don't know what the proper word for it is, but I love novels that take place back in the early part of the 20th century. For example, one of my favorite books is "The Diplomat's Wife" by Pam Jenoff. Definitely a MUST READ!

Well, while it's certainly not old fashioned or having anythingto do with horses, I'd say Bag of Bones by Stephen King is probably one of the best love stories I've read in a while.

I know, I know. Stepen King. But it's true. At its core it's a love story and there aren't any harlequin-esqe porn sessions in it. It's a great book. I had my wife read it (who's very easy to scare) and she liked it and gave it to her mom who loved it. It isn't a horror book, just a good story, like I said, with love at its core.

Hope this helps.

I like Stephanie Meyer. Her books are romantic and clean.

If you are looking for classic literature my favorites are Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, and Rebecca.

Anything by Nicholas Sparks:
Message in a Bottle
The Notebook
A Walk to Remember
The Guardian

**Those are the ones I have read...but there are more. All of them are romances, but still clean.**

Enjoy! :D

Agreed with Amanda9705. Pretty much all the Nicholas Sparks novels are romantic and clean, but they are in the fiction genre, not romance. It also depends on your definition of "clean" as well though.

Novels categorized in the romance genre do involve some mature scenes, but the degree of it varies. I can suggest Mercedes Lackey's "Tale of 500 Kingdom" series. It is in the fantasy genre and there are romance scenes but not explicit ones. Another title that I've read myself that seems to fit your standards is "PS I Love You" by Cecelia Ahern.

Check those out and happy reading :)

I would read The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets by Eva Rice.
It is one of my FAVORITE books!

Here is the amazon description:
An impulsive taxi ride with a stranger in 1950s London indelibly changes Penelope Wallace's life in Rice's sparkling debut. At 18, Penelope lives with her younger brother, Inigo, and her terribly glamorous, young widowed mother in a drafty, rundown, English estate house in the countryside. With the loss of the man of the house, financial pressures mount, threatening sheltered Penelope's family manse—and what's left of her family's place in society. She finds a kindred spirit in the outspoken posh Londoner, Charlotte Ferris, who has a "great gift for circumnavigating normal behavior," when they both reveal their passion for American singing sensation Johnnie Ray. After agreeing to accompany Charlotte's aspiring magician cousin, Harry Delancy, to his former girlfriend's engagement party to make her jealous, Penelope begins her journey through a world of smart parties, fashionable teas and simmering romance. With élan and insight into human foibles (and postwar Anglo-British relations), Rice, daughter of lyricist Tim Rice, ties the Wallace and Delancy families together with a surprising, bittersweet plot twist. Rice's remarkable gift for creating singular characters in this memorable story underscores her presence as a fresh new voice in fiction.

Would also agree about Nicholas Sparks, but also Richard Paul Evans, who the wrote the Christmas Box Series, I personally believe he writes the best love stories.

Hi nice to meet you. I would recommend a romance series called Beautiful Creatures by Garcia & Stohl. The only series that I had read with horses is the one called Pretty Horses by McCarthy. The series comes with three other books and they are pretty good. I had to read them for English class.

Anything by Kristan Higgins, I seriously love her books. They are romance, but they are "cleaner" and really funny. The story and characters are always really well written and actually come alive when you read. I love them so much and I'm not a huge romance reader.

I used to work at Barnes & Noble and I remember a lot of the customers who liked Nicholas Sparks also enjoyed books by Debbie Macomber (such as "Sweet Tomorrows") and Danielle Steel (such as "Blue").

I just read The Altitude Journals by David J. Mauro and I was so impressed with his writing. Although it was not fiction, which I prefer reading, I still couldn't put it down because of the vulnerability with which he wrote and the adventures at every turn. If you want a good read, I would recommend this one.

I also love Christian fiction type novels and I would recommend a series called the Mitford Series by Jan Karon. It is about the town of Mitford,NC and the people in the town and their uniqueness. As I was reading the books I would finish one and already have the next one in the series to start on. The first book of the series is called At Home in Mitford.
