Books with illustrations or without?

I really enjoy illustrations but sometimes they don't help me to exercise my imagination, so I would say without. But just by a tiiiiiny difference.

I think it depends on the book. Visuals are usually helpful because they help make the story more vivid. Also, self-help books, history books, biographies and science-related books are easier to understand with visuals.

The only kinds of illustrations I like in books are maps or diagrams. I don't like pictures of places or characters. If the author is descriptive enough, I have no problems imaging the characters or the scenes in the story. So to answer the topic, without.

Depends on what type of book. Children books or books that explain something should have illustrations. But for the most part, I prefer the novels I read to not have illustrations because everyone has a different way of interpreting the book. I think it's better to let readers imagine what's going on in the book themselves.

With or without illustrations to me books are just books as long as they meet the readers needs.

I prefer books without illustrations because I'm usually disappointed when I find I've imagined something differently than what the author did. Leaving out illustrations allows the reader to contribute to the story too, and allows them to use their imagination more

I like books with illustrations. It gives me an idea of what the author pictures when they wrote the book. I love seeing what the author thinks the characters look like. The book doesn't need tons of pictures, but seeing the major places, towns, and characters is awesome.

As an artist, I believe illustrations serve their purpose, but they can feel very out of place sometimes, especially if I had been picturing the scene or character in a different way!

I personally prefer books without illustrations. I like imagining the characters and setting in my own mind, interpreting them in my own way. Unless the story format is something like a webcomic, illustrations can be a deterrent for me.

When you choose a book, do you prefer the ones with illustrations or those without? I personally prefer books with illustrations because I can get a better visual in my mind of the characters and events. I don't think pictures should be on every single page of a book though since I like to picture some events on my own.

I also like books with illustrations, it makes things easier to understand.

Anything is fine for me. I see the intensity of the plot rather than the illustrations. but generally illustrations gives an added value to the book.
