The First Ten Focus Group Feedback for Farmer Beau's Farm
Because Farmer Beau's Farm was Book of the Day, some of our most trusted members have carefully looked over the cover, the description, and other aspects of this book as a part of purchase-intent focus group. We then asked each participant in the focus group if they planned to buy and read the book, and why they planned to buy and read the book or not. Their answer to that question and reasons are displayed below. We call this awesome feature The First Ten Focus Group.
Keep in mind, the responses from the members are not reviews. This is purchase-intent focus group which means the participants are people who have NOT yet bought or read your book. A purchase-intent focus group is an important and extremely useful marketing tool for any product, not just books. For other products, you might walk on the street and show people an item in a package and poll them about whether they would buy if or $X or not. These kind of focus groups are one of the ways big marketing companies find the ideal price points for products and test the effectiveness of different packaging. The focus group can help you identify your market so you how to target ads of your book, and it can (but may not) provide you new useful info about your "packaging" (e.g. your book cover, your book synopsis on Amazon, etc.). The point of the focus group comments is to give you information from people who have not bought or read your book about why they plan to buy your book which will help you in marketing the book. These are not reviews or critiques of your book because they are not from people have read the book. This is a marketing tool, not reviews. The trick of book marketing and book advertising is that you have to convince people who have not read your book yet that your book is worth buying and reading. For marketing, it doesn't matter much if people love your book after reading it if you cannot convince potential buyers before they read it that they will love it.
IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable. This is because we only poll about 20 or so readers, and all readers have to say "no" to almost all books. Over a million books are published each year. Even a very active reader cannot come close to even reading 1% of books out there.
This is also why publishing books is such a tough industry.

This is a book that kids would love to read over and over again. If I wasn't in this program, I would have read it because the cover page and title attracted me. I like children's books because of their simplicity, and this one does it well. The simplicity was so good that it would help kids improve their vocabulary. I liked that the language was not too sophisticated and was easily understood. The pictures were also very lively, and I liked that. There were no errors in this book, and there was nothing about it that I didn't like. The official OBC review gave this book a lot of praise, and I have decided to finish reading it.

I was not initially intrigued by the title or cover of “Farmer Beau’s Farm.” These details indicate a children’s book, and I do not have children. The blurb confirms the genre and together with the OBC discusses the themes of acceptance of differences when new animals come to the farm. This is an important concept presented cutely, but I have no children in my life to read this book to.
I found no errors in the sample pages, but there was only one small page of the narrative included. I found the illustrations were lacking a bit of life, they were kind of two-dimensional on the page. I would have liked to have seen more pages in the sample, as it was difficult to judge the book based only on the first page. I wasn’t particularly excited by what I did see, I want to be introduced to the animals and lessons. I will not continue reading this book, as I don’t have children. I recommend enlarging the sample available on Amazon to include a few more pages to entice potential readers.

I wouldn't have sampled the book since it is a children's book for starters and because the illustration looks rather old fashion and not suite appealing for the eyes. There were no errors in the first 10 pages i read.
After Reading the first ten pages it only confirmed my first decision that I wouldn't read the book, the story is boring, and the illustrations are not attractive whatsoever.
There wasn't anything that i liked about the book. I wouldn't even read it to my son, the author seems to have written this book while she was bored and looking at her cat, the writing needs to have a little more creativity and flavor put into it. The word "farm" is mentioned too many times as subject, verb, noun, all forms possible. I don't know if that was intentional but I that was very annoying. I am not sure if the is an obc review but It didn't affect my opinion

The cover and the title are endearing. I will not be reading the book because I don't think I will enjoy it. This is a cute children's book and it will be fun for them to read. I didn't find any errors. There are no negatives about the book. The OBC review helped me make my decision.

If I were not part of this program, I would still have opted to read this book. Its description promises to teach a vital lesson of accepting others, which intrigues me. From the few pages that I have already read, I noticed that the author employs a language that is both lucid and accessible to the intended audience. This aspect is what I enjoyed the most from the portion that I read so far, and I found nothing to dislike about it. The OBC review further fueled my decision as it provided even more valuable insights into the book.

The cover of the book was attractive enough to catch my attention, and the title worked well alongside it. But I would not have picked it outside this programme for the same reason why I will not read it any further—I don't like children's books. The book tells the story of a young couple. The man likes to be busy outside at his grade, while the woman likes to be inside, baking and sewing. Until they see the two peculiar cats, they sit outside for lunch and admire them. I liked how interactive the pictures were with the illustrations. They do indeed spark some form of curiosity. What I disliked is that I came across an error on location 21. 'He loved tinkering in his spacious gardens taking good care of all his flowers.' There is a comma missing after the word 'taking.' The OBC review was not that helpful in making a decision.

I did not participate in this program previously, but I am now, and I like it. Yes, based on the cover, editorial reviews, and customer reviews, I would have read or sampled this book. No, after reading the first page, I would not purchase and read it because I am not interested in it. As I read the first ten pages, I found no errors.
The graphics are vibrant throughout and are evocative of vintage cartoons like Looney Tunes. Although a little static and flat, the settings are certainly acceptable, and the characters themselves are what matter most. The creatures appear so vibrant and lifelike that they may be still frames from a lively cartoon. There is nothing to detract from how adorable the pictures are because the text and pictures in the book are separate.I found nothing too negative to mention, dislike, or complain about in the first ten pages of this book. Yes, the OBC review helped me, as a reader, decide whether to buy this book.

I would have read the book's sample pages even if I had not been enrolled in this program. I love the book's cover. I would purchase the book and read it through after reading the first ten pages. The writer captured my attention with its beautiful illustrations and cute animals. I saw an error on page 2. It reads, “He loved tinkering in his spacious gardens taking good care of all his flowers. The correct sentence should be “He loved tinkering in his spacious gardens and taking good care of all his flowers.” I like that the lessons of love and the care of others are being taught. The one thing I would recommend is that the font be larger. Chidren should not have to squint their eyes to read. The OBC review was positive and rightly so.

I love the colourful cover and title of this book. It's very obvious the genre. Not something I would personally need as I don't have kids. This sounds like an entertaining read for young children. I like the images throughout the book and can see children loving them, and the story was engaging too. The OBC review was good, but I probably would not have read the book based on the review. I would not have known about this book if not for OBC. I found no errors in the book, so I am assuming that it has been professionally edited. The only thing I disliked was the font used. It felt too boxy. I would read this book to my friend's daughter next time she visits. She loves animals. It is available on KU, so there is no need for me to purchase it as such, but I will read it to her for sure.

The cover is adorable, and the title is lovely to hear. The genre is my favorite. The blurb makes it easy to predict what's inside the book, and I love it. The editorial review was interesting, talking about Farmer Beau and his wife, Bamma, who've seen six kittens in the garage. Later on, one kitten is left, and they named it Kailey. Fast-forward: Kailey the kitten has seen a bunny named Sammy, and they get along and become friends. Moving forward, they were worried about the unusual animal the couple would bring to the farm. The story is wonderful. And the customer reviews are all happy and satisfied customers of this lovely book. For these reasons, I loved to sample the book, which I did. After reading the first ten pages, I must admit that I would love to buy the book and read the whole of it because I love the moral lessons of the book: acceptance, friendship, and empathy. I found no errors in the first ten pages. I like the beautiful illustrations as well as the moral lessons they bring. The friendship between Kailey and Sammy is adorable, and their feelings are relatable about their worry about the unusual animal coming into the farm, which is Malissa the giraffe. I don't have any dislike for the book. It's perfect for children because of its overall message. And I do not have any suggestions to improve the book because it is already lovely for children. Yes, the OBC review perfectly captures the hearts of children with this fantastic book. Indeed, it is very helpful for me in my buying decision with the book.

"Farmer Beau's Farm" by Kathleen Geiger seems like a fun book to read from the title and the blurb. The cover is very attractive with the animated, colorful illustrations on it. The customer reviews are all positive and highly praise the book. With all the above aspects, I would definitely sample this book. The OBC review combined with the sample I have read would surely convince me to buy it for my children. I liked the colorful illustrations and the large font used in the book. The idea the author used to mimic a family expecting a new member with farm animals is very original. I believe it sends the message intended for the children in a way they will understand and relate to easily. There was nothing I disliked about this book, but I think more illustrations will make it more appealing to children. I found no errors in the sample I read.

My initial view is that I wouldn't pick this book up as I don't have a child. However, the cover is colourful with distinctive illustrations, so I think it would lead me to at least look at it.
On reading, I like the use of adjectives that are the kind you can play around with sounding out as a child. They also paint a strong picture of the activity, which is great for children.
The OBC review helps understand the story further and the ‘lessons’ to be learned, i.e. when welcoming a new sibling. I think in that situation I would pick this book to read.

Farmer Beau’s Farm has an eye-catching title and a pretty cover depicting two of the main characters, Kailey the cat and Sammy the bunny. I would have sampled this book because of its interesting blurb and very positive OBC review. The characters in the book are lovely, and the story is wholesome. Moreover, the story was embellished with beautiful and colorful illustrations throughout. I did not come across any errors while reading. However, intricate words were present in the text, which could definitely be replaced by simpler ones or avoided altogether. I will not purchase this book because I cannot picture myself reading it with my nephews. I believe it is a little advanced for its genre.

But for the First Ten, I would not have sampled or read this book because its cover, title, genre, blurb, and editorial and customer reviews suggest that it is a book for children, and I have no children. Sampling the first ten pages, I liked the beautiful illustrations and the author’s animal-loving story about Beau and Bamma accommodating the kittens, creating the house for the kitten who stayed, and welcoming the bunny too. I did not find errors and have no suggestions for improvement. After reading the first ten pages, I will not buy and read the whole book because I have no children. The OBC review was very informative and positive but it did not impact my decision whether to read this book.

The title and cover of the book are both lovely, and I would choose to read it just on them. I read the Official OnlineBookClub review and blurb, but they did not influence my decision. There were no editor reviews that I could find. Jules' customer review mentioned how friendly the characters in the book are, which affected my decision. I plan to read the book because it appears to be a well-written children's book by all accounts. I saw no typos or errors while reading the book, thus it appears to have been professionally edited. I enjoy how the six kittens playing together are depicted because it sounds natural. In my perspective, nothing in the book needs to be improved.

The book cover and title would be appealing to children. The blurb was intriguing, and I wanted to learn who the new farm member was. There were several positive Amazon customer comments. The official OBC review was well-written and descriptive. I enjoyed the book immensely, especially for its message. It is an excellent moral for children that even though someone is different, you can still be friends and love each other. I liked the beautiful illustrations as well. However, since it is a children’s book, I am not interested in buying it. I have no complaints about the book. I found two errors in the first ten pages; I have provided the details below.
Error 1: They could her Farmer Beau and Bamma talking and laughing.
Explanation: It should be ‘They could hear Farmer Beau’ instead of ‘They could her Farmer Beau.’
Page 26 of 37
Error 1: Just then, a large truck ramble into the barnyard.
Explanation: It should be ‘large truck rambled into the barnyard’ instead of ‘large truck ramble into the barnyard.’

Total ~ 56%
Farmer Beau's Farm earned a score of 56%.
In other words, out of the top-level reviewers who read at least the first 10 pages of this book, 56% plan to read the whole book.
IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable.
Over a million books are published each year. Any given person could not even read .0001% of the books out there. This means readers have to be very selective. Even taking the time to look over reviews and blurbs, let alone read samples, is more time than most readers can afford for most books. The First Ten is a powerful focus group that addresses those issues. It creates a helpful tool for authors, publishers, and other readers.
