Making Her His: A Singular Obsession Book One

  by Lucy Leroux

The First Ten

Because Making Her His was Book of the Day, some of our most trusted reviewers have carefully looked over the cover, the description, and other aspects of this book. The reviewers even read at least the first 10 pages of the book. They have each written a short review explaining why they plan to read the whole book or not based on the sample they read and other aspects of the book. Their feedback is displayed below. We call this awesome feature The First Ten.

Over a million books are published each year. Any given person could not even read .0001% of the books out there. This means readers have to be very selective. Even taking the time to look over reviews and blurbs, let alone read samples, is more time than most readers can afford for most books. The First Ten is a powerful focus group that addresses those issues. It creates a helpful tool for authors, publishers, and other readers.

I probably wouldn't have sampled the book without the program, as I don't read erotic fiction. The cover is enticing and the blurb informative and to the point. The sample seems well written and I enjoyed the dialogue between Alex and Elynn during the breakfast scene. It isn't my usual read, but I will give it a try since I enjoyed the sample.

I didn't like the erotic cover, which looks like the ad for a pornogrpahic movie. Also, the first part of the title is hard to see and amost disappears into the dark background. The well-written summary blurb gave me a good flavor of what the story is about. Unfortunately, I am not interested in the subject matter (an obsession with a stepsister, flirting with bondage). The beginning pages have a nice flow and the author does a good job of introducing the main character. I don't mind curse words in a book, but it's a bit much to start the book with the f-word in the second sentence. Based on the cover, summary, and sample pages, I am not interested in reading further.

This book has a very intriguing Prologue. The first two pages drew me into the story by providing a lot of useful exposition. If I had not sampled this book as a part of The First Ten, I would’ve likely overlooked it because of its cover image and genre. Erotica doesn’t usually interest me, despite the plot to many of the works within the genre having some decent plot and characters. Also, the cover seems a bit in poor tastier its attempt to be scintillating. Alex and Elynn’s characters so far are polar opposites. The stark contrast between Alex’s seemingly aggressive character and Elynn’s shyness piques my interest in the plot of the overall story. I will definitely purchase this book and read it eventually. There were no typos or grammatical errors.

I'm not a huge fan of romance or erotica, and this book looks like it fits snugly into that genre from the cover. Another big issue i have is it is way too dark, and the words are impossible to read. From the cover I can't even make out the title of the book, which is a big negative for me. The award icon is also somewhat off-putting considering it is one of the few things that draws attention, but not necessarily in a good way. The formatting, on the other hand, is almost perfect inside the book and very compelling, and it actually managed to draw me in a little bit with creative dialogue and characters. I won't be continuing, but only because it isn't my kind of book and not because of the quality. However, I would highly recommend that the author invest in a more compelling book cover to make things easier to read and look less like erotica.

If this book was not part of the First Ten program, I would not have picked it up because it does not seem like my type of book. I wish the blurb gave more information concerning the plot.
After reading the first ten pages, I can say that this book seems well-written. I could not find any errors so it also seems professionally edited. This book seems like it would appeal to fans of the genre but unfortunately it just is not my thing therefore I do not intend to read it.

This looked like a fun read and I was glad to have the chance to sample it. I appreciated the Amazon warning that this book was not suitable for younger readers. The opening pages grabbed my attention and I think I'll enjoy reading the rest of this book. This book appeared to be professionally edited and error-free.

After reading the blurb, I really don't think this book is for me. I don't typically read indie author romance books. This book also sounds really similar to other erotica type of romance books and I like to read something more original. After reading the first ten pages, I think this book would appeal to fans of the genre. Unfortunately I am not one of them.

If not for the sampling program, I might not have come across this book. If I had, being a fan of romance books, I think I would have read it. Having read the sample, I thought that the plot was interesting. However, I would have liked to know more about the characters. The book seems to be professionally edited. I did not come across an Onlinebookclub review for the book, but I don't think that the absence of one affected my decision. I found the sample interesting & hence I will read the book further.

This book has a catchy cover. I was not very interested in purchasing this book based on the blurb and cover until after I sampled it. Upon starting the first couple of pages, I was immediately drawn in and can't wait to read more. There is not an OnlineBookClub review, but it has mostly 5-star reviews on Amazon. The book did not have any grammar errors in the first ten pages and seemed to have great character development and a good plot. My favorite character so far is Elynn. She seems like a very sweet girl.

Although the title is intriguing, the cover is a little overboard. After just looking at the book, I would not read it. I read the first chapter and it did not change my mind. I felt some of the dialogue was awkward and forced. It just did not interest me.

This definitely falls outside my reading preferences, so I would not have looked at it. I have to say, I strongly dislike this kind of cover, but it fits in its genre.
There is a typo in the blurb on Amazon, a missing word. However, I didn't notice any issues in the book itself. Also, despite this being something I typically wouldn't look at, I enjoyed the sample, and liked the characters. If I read ebooks, I would likely read this, and may come back to it at a later time, but for now, I must say no.

When I read the description for this book, it squicked me out a little. I have step-siblings, and we're close in age, so the idea of a step-brother/sister romance does not work for me.As I read the first ten pages, nothing impressed me enough to want to continue. If it doesn't captivate me, I don't need to put myself through step-sibling erotic romance.

Just by the cover, I would not have bought the book. After reading the first 10 pages, I am still not that convinced as it still looks a bit cliched. Yet, as he review has mentioned that it is 5 star read and the fact that the book is free, I will read on to see if I like it or not.

The cover of this book is very seductive. I didn't find a review by the OBC, but read the short description on Amazon. I enjoy romances, but not extremely graphic ones. The summary warned of some intense scenes ( for mature audiences only). I read the first few pages and could tell this was definitely an adult book. The first page started with curse words. I think the storyline and characters would be fun, but the intense, erotic nature is not my style. I won't be reading the remainder.

Everything about this read suggests Erotic Romance (the cover, title, genre, and blurb), so even with the amount of positive reviews, I would not have sampled this read on my own. I am not a fan of this genre. Based on what I read, the book does seem to be professionally edited. I enjoyed the author's flowing writing style; it makes for an easy read. So far, the beginning of the book is well-written and balanced. However, I don't plan on finishing this read because of all the implied sexual scenes in the blurb; this is not to my taste.

If I had not read the sample, I would not have read the book. The blurb was a little flat and the cover a little offputting. After reading the sample, I have not changed my mind, although I loved how Elynn's story was told; I admit that I am curious about how that will be brought up again, but prior to that I felt very disconnected from the story. It was professionally edited and I did not read an official review.

"Making Her His" is not a book I would typically choose to read. I'm not a big fan of the romance genre. After sampling the first ten pages for this program I still have reservations about reading this book. Though the book appears to be well written and professionally edited I was not hooked in the beginning. Nothing really jumped out as unique or exciting. I can see how this book would appeal to others and I do think it is well written, however it's just not my cup of tea.

I am not into these types of books at all. The cover looks like a porn flick and the words are difficult to read with the red on black. After reading the summary on amazon I don't think I will like this book. The main idea of being obsessed with a stepsister is odd to me and not something I'd like to read about. The sample was free from errors, and the author did a good job on the flow of writing, but much more beyond the sample, in not interested in finishing.

I probably would have sampled this book based on the cover, title, and genre. I usually enjoy romance novels. After reading the first ten pages, I will be finishing this book. It sucked me in right away. I didn't want to put the book down once I started. There were a couple of punctuation errors, but I don't think it will distract me from the book. So far it hasn't. I also was not deterred by the fact that there was not an OBC review. I don't usually read books if they don't have a review, but this one was really interesting to me.

I don't think I will be reading this book because I am not a big fan of erotic and romance. I am not going to be reading this book because of its plot. It seems like it's professionally edited. I liked the detail in the book and I didn't like how the author started right into the plot like that. It seems like it is rushed. I did not see any review, and I don't think it would affect my decision.

I'm very picky with romance books and I'm definitely not a fan of erotica, so hearing that this was an erotica novel already had me uninterested. I was surprised, however, that the first ten pages were clean! The writing is fine and the editing is great, but I can't see finishing it solely because it's erotic.

Great reviews for this one have showed it to be a powerful read with an unforgettable story line. I'm not sure how I feel about the story, with the man being in love with this step sister. I find that part a bit hard to handle, as I have a step brother who is as close as a brother to me. The story starts out with Alex traveling to meet his father and family for brunch, running late. Alex sees that his stepsister has changed into a thinner version of her pre teen self, and finds himself staring at her. Although the relation of the two bothered me, I was intrigued so I do plan to finish the story. I'm not sure if there's an error with my copy only, but it seems that when I turn pages, the same sentence from the previous page is duplicated.

Had I not sampled the first ten pages as part of this program, I would not have chosen to read/sample this book. I do not read erotic romance books.

The book was free so I did download. However, I will not read the whole book. As I said, I'm not a fan of erotic romance. Frankly, though not badly written, I imagine this book going along the lines of a Fifty Shades novel (although I did not read them, but saw the film...reluctantly).

The book seems to be professionally edited. I did not notice typos or grammatical errors.

The relationship between Alex, his father and stepmother is an interesting dynamic. However, I felt that the teenage daughter, who was originally thought to be an ugly duckling, suddenly discovered to be a swan, a bit of a cliche. I suppose this is typical in these types of romance novels.

This book was not officially reviewed on OBC. The lack of a review did not affect my decision.
