At a human level, the plot is about Edwin who launches a chain of coffee shops and taps venture capitalist funds. He grapples with organized crime and a childhood nemesis. The novel also hints of syndicates using Singapore for money laundering and how and why sovereign funds step in with investments. The author takes us behind the official statistics and business reports about Singapore.

This looks like an interesting read. I'm going to check it out. Singapore seems like a good setting for a mystery, a nice change of pace from the typical locales like New York or London.

I read Beck And Call and what a blast! It is arguably ‘easy’ to write murder/medical/legal thrillers – but a business thriller? I approached it with some reservations but was pleasantly surprised. I plan to get hold of his espionage thriller – Code Shield.
