Post by gali »

New year, new goal. How many books do you intend to read this year?

Take our ultimate reading challenge and set up a new goal on your profile. At the end of the year, you can see if your goal was met. Good luck! :)

I'm planning to set mine much lower this year. I could probably push myself and actually make it to 100, but I'm setting myself the goal of reading some of the titles I've been putting off.
I'm thinking about setting it at 60 :)

I missed my number last year so I need to lower it. I'm going for 100 this year.

I usually read about a book a day; so my estimate would be about 360 books - though maybe less this year, as I'm writing another book myself, and it needs quite a bit of fairly heavy research. Happy new year to everybody! :)

Apparently I am an underachiever and no speed reader. 100 books would never even cross my mind to be a goal for one year. I work 2 jobs and raise a 6 year old. Although we read and go to the library life is super busy and throws lots of curves our way...I will set it at 24. Two a month. I like to savor the story so I really take my time reading.

2016 I tried to get to 100 and made it to 98 & half way through 99 ... so not bad at all if I say so myself. :tiphat:

I'll go with 100 again for 2017 and see how it goes ... who knows life may well go so exciting on Mr Trump's reign that I get no reading at all done on the other hand it could be so boring I clear my extensive TBR list. :o

@Kattee
It's not a competition just a bit of harmless fun. Personally I don't do competitive reading which seems like a contradiction in terms to me ... in fact I don't do competitive anything. Anyway what some people call a book you or I might call a short story - the only important thing is to enjoy your reading. :lire4:

The profile is still set up for 2016 but I do intend to read approximately a book a week. So 52 for me, will set it up once it's available. Another goal is to read more non-fiction and from more categories. OBC definitely helps me to find more variety.
Life without a good book is something MrsCatInTheHat cannot imagine.

This year, my goal is to purchase (and read!) a book a month from my local, independent bookstore, and then write a blog post about it. So, that means 12 books next year. A low goal compared to many of yours, but that's my baseline for 2017.

Hmmm, I actually listen to more books than I actually read. Do those count? I think I could set a reading count of 50 plus at least another 15 on audio. Anyone else listen to books?
