Nominations for August book of the month

Post Number:#1  Postby Scott » 20 Jun 2009, 22:46

The July book of the month is Swan Song by Robert McCammon. Please get it, read it and discuss it with us in July.

This thread is for nominating books to be the August book of the month. Nominations will be accepted for the rest of July (about two weeks). On July 1st, I will start a thread in which we can all vote on the nominations to decide which book will be the August book of the month.

Only one nomination per user. Even if the book you nominate does not become book of the month, please read whichever book does. The more participation, the better. When making a nomination, try to think of a book that will be good to read and discuss as a group, not just a book that happens to be one of your personal favorites. To nominate book, please post both the title and author of the book, preferably in bold print.

Thanks,
Scott

I would like to nominate The Monsters of Templeton by Lauren Goff.

I absolutely love the mystery involved in the story, the slight magic, the love stories (all of them, and not cheesy at all), the history and family secrets. Check out the reviews on Amazon, the first one actually says it would be great as a book club read! I read it a few months ago and already want to read it again, it was that great!

The History of Love looks good but totally heartbreaking. The Lovely Bones I read a few years ago and the idea was great but I hated the last half of the book, especially the end. (Sorry Atrixa!)

I would like to invite all of you to check my ideas on social justice in light of the current economic/financial crisis and let me know your thoughts.
I am very involved in the issues of integral human development and social justice and I am looking for people to share my ideas with.

thanks in advance
