Nominate books to be the January 2009 book of the month

Please use this thread to nominate books to be book of the month in January. Each person please only post 1 nomination. Try to think of books that would be good for the entire group of people rather than your personal favorite. Modern books seem to work better than older books. On December 1, I will start a new thread to vote on the nominations. The book that gets the most votes will be the January book of the month.
