Twilight Vs. Harry Potter

Post by perksofbeingme »

I notice a lot of people are trying to say twilight is the new harry potter.

Some people (in fact more than I think possible) seem to want to make it some sort of competition. I don't get this personally. I've read both the series (save breaking dawn b/c it hasnt come out yet) and I think that they are both amazing, incredible, the best. But I don't feel there needs to be a competition! ITs silly! You can love both series! You can love Harry and Edward! Nowhere is it written that "thou must love harry and only harry" or "thou cannot love harry b/c thou loveth edward!"

Am I the only one who feels this way?

And I appologize for the rant, I've been holding it in for weeks :-)

I am just starting Twilight, but I don't feel the need to compare them at all. Apples and oranges I'm afraid.

The only thing I think they have in common is the guy who plays Cedric Diggory in the HP movies plays Edward Cullen!

There's a Twilight movie?

Never read the books but just checked the IMDB and the release date is December 12 (in the USA). OOOO it looked a bit good! Think I might have to make a move on the books :D
Don't judge a book by it's cover - not always good advice

These two series, while both being incredibly enticing, are very different from each other. Perhaps, as someone previously posted, the fact that Cedric Diggory's actor is playing Edward in the upcoming Twilight movie has some bearing on the matter, but these two books shouldn't be compared in that manner.

Two fine series that inspire something from all of us should be honored, not judged.

I think perhaps the comparisions are happening for the following reason:
It's a fantasy book that is meant to be for the younger set but is written well enough that everyone enjoys them.

I'm a personal fan of both. couldn't put them down.
Couldn't compare them though, they are totally different stories that don't share any resemblance. Vamps with love to a magical orphan, no competition can even take place with the differences at hand.

I think the difference is that Twilight is more romance, where Potter only has some romance and precious little at that.

Both are well written, but I would have to chose Potter.

They are both good series, but Twilight wasn't as much of a page turner as Harry Potter was for me.
I found all the twilight books very predictable, except the last in some places, and I was always surprised in HP!
