Room 101

Post Number:#1  Postby laci_baby » 13 May 2012, 11:48

Room 101 is a place introduced in the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell. For those that dont yet know the rules of the game, i say something that i find downright annoying and say why i find it so meaningless, and you all decide if thats worth banishing the said annoyance behind the door of Room 101, which is a chamber where all the bad things go and cant come back. It can be anything and anyone in the world, from toilet paper to the queen, but only if you can persuade the others that its worth banishing from the world.

Example:
Rabbits (You all knew it was coming). They're evil and all they do is eat your vegetables, especially your carrots which makes no sense whatsoever, they dont need good eyesight, so obviously they have some master plan of destroying the world without our knowing. Its the perfect crime if you think about it. They pretend to be all cute and fluffy and so innocent and harmless that we let them near our kids atleast once a year for Easter (the only animal to have its own holiday, i might add. Conspiracy, i tell you!), and as fast as they reproduce, no one will see it coming when they take over the world and eat our faces off. No one except for me that is. What good are they? I vote banish them. (Be persuaded damn you)

You can argue how they are good for the world (not like thats possible :P ) and not allow it banished, or you can be persuaded (heehee) and banish them, or after the annoyance is one or the other, you can take a turn with what you think should be banished in Room 101. The rabbits the first one, so banish or not?

Im going to go with NOT here Laci, my nephew has 2 rabbits and they give him lots of pleasure and fun, his eyes light up when he comes back from school and gets to feed and play with them. Im sure there are other kids who love rabbits too so I cant in good faith banish them...

Paris Hilton, can we please banish this pointless and vacuos idiot right now, she adorns the pages of magazines all over the world, despite the fact that she does nothing but party and talk sh!t all day about her body, her boyfriends, all the millions she has (inherited, not self made), her various talents and her plans to take over the world. Paris, nobody cares about you, she is a talentless spoilt little cretin who needs to be banished right now before a generation of girls grow up thinking opening your legs and drinking is the correct role model to follow....

Drat Mike, we'll see how bright everyones faces light up when the bunnies take over the world and i'm screaming "I TOLD YOU SO!!" :D

YES! Oh i do like you, even if you are a bunny lover :P
Paris Hilton has my vote for being banished. God i hate her.

Flies! Anyone know the importance of those? God they're everywhere, arent they? Disgusting little buggers. They just fly around, annoy everyone and mate on peoples food. You'll never see someone go "Aww look, a fly! How cute!" They chase them with flyswatters, so obviously i'm not the only one with this annoyance. Rather pointless in my opinion..

At the moment in Room 101 there are rabbits and Paris Hilton. Excuse me guys, I might just go and spend some time in Room 101 with Paris and the rabbits.   only gagging.

I agree lets banish flies to Room 101 as well.

Ok, this is going to sound really mean, but I want to banish old people who wear hats and drive at 20k an hour. This will instantly solve much of our road rage problems and who knows may even save some lives. If you don't agree to banish these people I am one day going to have a serious road rage incident that will end up on youtube. :D :D :D

Well I have nothing against flies .... it's blowing a bit of a gale here so any flies out would need to be on steroids to survive
Paris Hilton I am supremely indifferent to, she does not feature on my radar.
I love bunny rabbits & couldn't countenance a world without Flopsy & Co :(
Old people wearing hats & driving at 20 miles an hour ..... what about the boys on Last Of The Summer Wine? :)

To Room 101 I'd like to banish all the celebrity economists who are so good at telling us today what we should have done yesterday to avoid being were we are today .... neither use nor ornament the lot of them

Hahaha i agree with you Gannon, and though it sounds so very mean, i have to add screaming children in resteraunts. God they're horible. Last time i went on a date with my buddy and, lucky lucky us, got squared in by four different crying children. So we were trying to talk, laugh and flirt, and the entire time all either of us could hear was screaming children coming from all sides. It was like a bad omen haha. Then since all we were hearing were pieces of eachothers conversations we both were gettting very confused as to why i was talking about wearing dolphin slippers and why he was being a total perv, when nothing nasty or dolphin like whatsoever was in either conversation at all. It's maddening.

They dont really bother me Fran, i dont know why, but they dont. I just sort of ignore it and carry out with my business. Not that i dont care, it just doesnt get to me.

You know," I drove a cab in Las Vegas for 22 years and I'm just an expert on everything" blah blah blah. I wish this
old fossil would STFU FOREVER!!! Whose with me? Lets have him shot at sunrise without giving him the option of one
last ceremonial cigar!!! Show of hands please!!
All things considered, I agree with every peeve expressed by fellow occupants of Room 101. People are inconsiderate.
(Please, dont bother offering up NOTABLE exceptions). Now that I'm retired I'm rarely victimized by the "human
condition." When I am, it's usually by that old bore from Sin City who, under the guise of fellowship, is really just
ladling out his autobiography, a bucket at a time. Don't confuse this with false modesty or self pity. Confession is
good for the soul.

dindindin, I have no idea what you are even saying or who you are referring to in your post. Are you referring to yourself as the old fossil, I really have no idea.

I am. Confession is good for the soul.
Let me put it another way. Like everyone else, I've had my pet peeves. All peeves being derivatives of the "human
condition." Since retirement, I dont have any peeves. Except one. My tendency to answer a question with a dissertation
rather than yes or no. I should also mention that I'm shamelessly hyperbolic. Ask our friend Fran, the Voo to my Doo,
Spin to my Cycle, and Queen to my Mum.

Not too sure about the rabbits,I had one as a kid, and have you never seen Watership Down?
My first vote would be for people who use those tiny earphones and have the volume maxed out so you hear a racket coming from them....especially on public transport or just walking round the supermarket, so bloody inconsiderate
Please put these people in Room 101, and I urge people to carry scissors with them to cut the wires....aargh...it's like having Tinnitus.

Hahaha agreed, we can banish the earphone wearing people. Its even worse when you cant tell that theyre talking to someone, so you think they're talking to you so you start talking back and they just stare at you like your an idiot. Not that i have experience with that... haha.

And thats horrible Gannon, babies in a movie theatre drive me insane. God, kids drive me nuts. (Says the pregnant person. haha)

Why would anyone bring a baby to the movies? .... totally unsuitable noise levels if nothing else

Definitely 101 the earphone people & I'll add the people who put the empty milk carton back in the fridge and/or the empty cereal box back on the shelf
