I found out he won two awards in 2011. Really looking forward to reading it. Beautifully crafted so far.
He's a journalist so 'trims the fat'.

Gannon, I haven't read "The Dovekeepers" but from all accounts it sounds brilliant and well-worth reading. Thoughts?

Also, has that pesky 4th bear turned up yet?

Howdy Howdy my favourite poster.

First the bad news, no 4th bear did not turn up, but it has to be very close.
The good news, "The Dovekeepers" is brilliant so far, I have read about a third of it.
The Sense of an Ending is truly a little gem of a book. I am not surprised it won the booker. Fran, Dato and I have really been breaking it down and I can't wait to get your views on it. It may take your brilliance to shine some light on it for us. :D :D

@Maud
Expain "Mary" that's the first and most critical issue OK? :lol:

Things were looking good today, I heard the postman pull up, I met him at the door, he had a book package. I thought whoohoooo, Jasper is here. However I opened up the box and it was "The Song of Achilles" which I actually ordered weeks after the Jasper book. AHHHHHHHRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. "The Song of Achilles" does look very very good indeed however.

That postman of yours is a real tease. :( In fairness The Song of Achilles is a great read but you know so much about Achilles already & you didn't even know there was a fourth bear so you have to hold out for Jasper :lol:

Maud has not left the building.....

@ Gannon. What? "The Song Of Achilles", that's got nothing to do with bears! Please tell me your postman was kind today and delivered THE book.

@ Fran. Do you mean Sergeant Mary Mary of the Nursery Crime Division in Reading?

@Maud and Fran

My postman is actually a very nice indian gentleman. I am pretty sure he is innocent. Unless he is a Jasper fan and he is checking my books and has found my first edition signed Jasper. No, I think I am being paranoid.... or am I. :lol: :lol:

Hey, Gannon, if I was you I would check eBay. There may be a nice collection of Jasper Fforde books available for sale still in their postal wrappers. Nah, I think your postman would be kind enough to read-and-return.

I've got a silly little joke for everyone:

A bloke walks into a Glasgow library and says to the prim young librarian,
'Excuse me Miss, dey ye hae ony books on suicide?'
To which she stops doing her task, looks at him over the top of her glasses and says,
'Och, away wi' ye. Ye'll no bring it back!'

(With apologies to the Scots amongst us)

Roll on weekend.....

Hahahaha Maud, love it. I am sure(touch wood) that it will turn up soon, they have all eventually turned up.

Off topic, I am half-way through "The Dovekeepers" and it is very good. I will wait until I have finished it before giving it a full recommendation for you guys but it's looking good. Never read any of her books before.
Have a fantastic weekend and remember to post. :D :D

Hahahahahah, just realised your comment about the postie, read and return. :lol: :lol: :lol:
Don't know how I got my post inside your main post, I blame it on a glitch. :D
