A question about submissions

Post by David_Jerome »

Hi. I just recently joined this forum, and submitted a book to be reviewed. How do I get confirmation that my submission was successfully received?

Thanks for your help.

I will be working on the system over the next week or two to provide automatic notifications as the review request is processed and the review performed and posted. I apologize but there will be some delay and backup because my wife just gave birth to our daughter this past Sunday, which makes me very happy but also means I have my hands full with personal matters.

Thank you for your patience! :)

Wow, congratulations! I'm gonna be a father myself, in September, so I know how excited you must be. (My wife's due date is actually Sept 11...go figure.)

But I just wanted to make sure I submitted correctly, that's all. But whenever you're able to fix the issue, that'll be great. I wish you the best with you and your family.

How can I determine how many books I've submitted? I wanted to see how I compared to other members' submissions, but I don't know how to find out my own total? Please advise...thanks! :)

At the bottom of the main Bookshelves page there is a section for cool stats (most read, most books in shelves, etc.), most books submitted is one of them, and you can go to the full ranking for that stat. :tiphat:

Yes, Gravy, I knew about that! But when I saw that there were hundreds of entries to wade through...I was just too lazy to go through that list, especially since my avatar pic didn't show up, so I couldn't spot it by just skimming. How come some avatars have no pic? Do I have to do something to get my pic to show up?
Here's my suggestion: Why not have our submission totals listed on our bookshelf page under our book totals (currently reading, going to read, previously read etc.)? I think that may be a way of encouraging members to make more submissions, don'tcha think?? :)

Oh! Okay.

Can you search the page? If so, you can find your name that way.
If not, you could try to estimate by how many books are on your shelves, which should land you close...

(Worst case scenario, I can search it for you. It would only take a minute. 8) )

That is a very interesting suggestion. :tiphat:

Some members never add an avatar, so they stay the default grey on grey picture.

Well, I "guestimated", and went through the list manually...so I found & know my total now! :) Thanks for offering the search though...that was thoughtful of you! How would I search the page myself? When I went back today, my place was different, but that search was a lot easier of course...I actually moved up 3 whole places!! LOL For now, I guess I'll just keep track of it elsewhere.

I know adding an avatar pic is a choice, but I've added one for me & it doesn't show up on the list. A very few are just white spaces with no default grey even...and mine is one of them. How can I get my pic to show up so that the search will be easier to make? (Check mine out...I'm #737 as of now).

Glad you like my suggestion...if you speak to Scott, ask him about it...see what he thinks! :)

Sorry I missed this!

I'm back. :shifty:

I'll go have a look at the page.

-- 03 Aug 2017, 00:06 --

Okay, I think I know what's happening.
The page is so large that it's not loading completely (or loading too slow), which is what's causing the lack of avatars.

I'm sure Scott will be able to come up with a way to fix it. Maybe dividing the page up into smaller pages or something. :tiphat:

Welcome back, Gravy...thanks for your reply. Shifty, huh? ROFL

Yes, I thought the problem was that it wasn't loading completely at first...but I left the page up for a few hours, and it still didn't load in my pic, so??? Perhaps too large? Or maybe not updated regularly? I don't know.

Yeah, Scott will probably know...I wrote a lengthy post inquiring about the problem, offering my suggestion, and pointing out that there seems to be inconsistencies with the posting data. Gali forwarded it to Scott, so maybe I'll get an answer? Waiting to hear from him now...

Anyway, thanks for checking it out...I appreciate it! :)

Was the review automatically rejected right after you submit it each time? If any of the following guidelines are not met, a review will be automatically rejected.

- the review must contain a minimum of 400 words
- the review must have a minimum of 5 paragraphs
- the rating must be written in the required format - X out of 4 (X = the rating you give) - for example, 2 out of 4 stars, a 3 out of 4 star rating

These requirements are listed in the Guidelines for Writing a Review on the Review Team section. Please note there are other guidelines that should be adhered to in order to get a high editorial score.
