The only series I can remember that I liked was the Shell Scott books by Richard S. Prather. I liked the Mike Hammer books too.

I'm enjoying Harry Potter at the moment(now up to Goblet of Fire).

Some series that I enjoyed when I was a teen was the Left Behind series( though I felt that by Book 7 it was starting to drag), Alex Rider and the Power of 5. I wouldn't call those ones favourites now though.

i think what happens with me when it comes to series - especially those that are really long running is that it gets boring and you find variations on the same theme. which is why I gave up Christine Feehan, Women's murder club, Alex Cross - Well the last two is largely due to the fact of giving up James Patterson all together.

That being said, i do still love the In Death series by JD Robb even though she's on her 35th one! so i guess it's relative.

It would be tough to pick just one series especaially when one author has several good series out. Most of my favorites though are old time/ new masters of high Fantasy such as
Tolkens, Lord of the Rings
Stephan R Donaldson's The Chronicals Of Thomas Covenant, The Unbeliever
Raymond E Fiest The Rift War Saga
Jack L Chalker Soul Rider Series
Tad Willaims Memory , Sorrow, and Thorn
Larry Niven Ringworld Series
Terry Brooks Magic Kingdom of Landover Series
Barbara Hambly's The Windrose Chronicles
Although I do also like Other genres such as
Horror/ sci fi
Brian Lumley Necroscopes series
Clive Barker
As well as romance and paranormal
Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum Novels
Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games
So many , many more series I know I am leaving off my list but these top it

Too numerous to mention but.....I enjoy Sue Grafton's alphabetical series starring PI Kinsey Millhone for prodigious if lightweight crime and mystery.
