You know you’ve read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend.

I agree that there is no point selecting a bestseller title that everybody knows about. It is more interesting to discover books that have not yet become so popular, because many of them are hidden gems that deliver hours of delightful reading. I would like to nominate ENCHANTERS: GLYS OF MYRADELLE by David Bryan Russell because it is an amazingly imaginative, highly entertaining, but also thought-provoking novel. A book trailer for this title is posted on You Tube, and a free reading sample is available on the book website, Amazon and Barnes&Noble websites.

House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski. Amazing book! Very unique read, as well! Probably very different from anything you've ever read!

What about Bryce Courtenay's new on Jack of Diamonds, it's his last ever book, the poor man is dying of cancer.

I nominate 'Poppy Day' by Amanda Prowse as the January Book of the Month for this great site. Poppy Day is a contemporary and moving story about a soldier taken hostage in Afghanistan and the journey that his young wife goes on to try and get him back. Originally published as an independent title in the UK last year it sold out and has been given a full makover by a new publisher where it has attained a 4.9/5 rating on Amazon. All author royalties have been donated to the Royal British Legion and sales in the USA would attract a similar arrangement for North America. An interesting read where the heroine has to make a number of moral choices which would make for an enlivened debate.
