I've heard her voice before, but I just finally started getting into the art of Rosa Ponselle. She was Maria Callas' only idol, and she was definitely worthy of imitation. :shock: Wow. :shock:

For me, there's nobody better than Aretha Franklin. Though I also think Elvis Presley, Marvin Gaye, Dusty Springfield, Freddie Mercury, Roy Orbison and Stevie Wonder are fantastic. Stevie Nicks is also great. And Debbie Harry :)

Thats a name I havent heard for a while. Another old-timer with that same style was Katherine Grayson.

I found some old John McCormack recordings online, he could belt out some pretty good tunes.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers was on PBS last night so she was fresh in my mind! Though I think her best performance was in Small Town Girl. Perry Como springs to mind too, especially his gospel and Christmas recordings.

Thats another name I havent heard for a day or two. Wasnt he called Mr. Relaxation or something like that? I remember his TV show.

Another good singer from that era was Dean Martin.

How can this even be a question?
That would be like asking which leaf on a tree is prettiest, or which flower smells the best.
There are too many choices!
