________________________________________
When you're dreaming with a broken heart
The waking up is the hardest part
You roll outta bed and down on your knees
And for the moment you can hardly breathe
Wondering was she really here?
Is she standing in my room?
No she's not, 'cause she's gone

So scared of getting older
I'm only good at being young
So I play the numbers game
To find a way to say that life has just begun
Had a talk with my old man
Said "help me understand"
He said "turn sixty-eight
You renegotiate"
"Don't stop this train
Don't for a minute change the place you're in
And don't think I couldn't ever understand
I tried my hand
John, honestly we'll never stop this train"
Once in awhile, when it's good
It'll feel like it should
And they're all still around
And you're still safe and sound
And you don't miss a thing
Till you cry when you're driving away in the dark
Singing
Stop this train
__________________________________________
Oh twice as much
Ain’t twice as good
And can't sustain
Like one half could
It's wanting more
It's gonna send me to my knees
Oh gravity
Stay the hell away from me
Oh gravity
Has taken better men than me
Now how can that be?

Mike Shinoda wrote Breaking the Habit for Chester due to his history of abuse and drugs; it always brought Chester to tears and took years before he was finally able to perform it.
And especially Minutes to Midnight, you can read it easier.

crossing genres..Natalie Maines, Billy Corgan, Aaron Lewis(Staind), Maynard, Tom Waits...i could go on and on but i won't because the real reason i posted in this thread...i was just made aware of Iron and Wine's The Trapeze Swinger a few days ago. 9min and 30sec of pure poetry. I am now a fan.

An actual band would be Pink Floyd. Roger Waters is great at lyrics.
The Who as well, with Pete Townshend. He was the genius behind Tommy and Quadrophenia, two great rock operas with great storylines.

One of my favorite songs is "FLow".
e.g.:
"See me (Within the light)
Flowing (Take me to you)
Like the river to the sea
You come down (I'm in the light)
You cover (Pull me to you)
And the waves rush over me"
