Do you sing in a choir?

I have sung in choir virtually all of my life. I, too, am an alto not because I have a low voice, but because I love harmonizing and making a melody more interesting. After the death of my two close friends my Sophomore year of high school, I found out about music's healing properties. I was at the end of my rope and singing in choir is the thing that helped me to climb back up to safety. It mended my heart after something terrible and I will forever be grateful for that.

I discovered choral music about a year ago wehn I joined my local choral society and it opened up a whole new world of music for me. Now trying to learn to read music for baritone parts in some of the great choral works.

I have previously, though I am an alto who apparently sings far too low for the comfort of most choir directors. I don't sing in a choir now, but I'm going to be helping to lead the liturgy at church soon so I will have to sing a bit...solo. Nervous is not the word for it, although at least liturgical music is not as complicated usually as choral music.

I sang in choir when I was in middle school. My voice still hadn't dropped, so I was one of the best altos they had.

The first time my voice cracked, I was singing "Gloria," during competition, in the middle of my solo.

I sang all throughout my school career. Middle school, high school, and even college. My favorite group was when I was senior in high school we sang a really hard song and then got a standing ovation. It was the best feeling ever.

I was asked to sing in my school choir in 2nd grade for a Christmas show my school was putting on. After that year, I was never invited onto that chorus ever again.

I sang in the choir at my high school for a year or so. I ended up leaving it because I couldn't stand the music my teacher was choosing anymore. Plus she had favorites.

Are there any choralists?
I sing in my choir for 4 months and I sing in altos. Our repertoire contains mainly sacral songs in Latin but not only. We sing for example Vivaldi's 'Gloria'. The part 'Et In Terra Pax' is really beautiful.
I think that there's something mystical in singing in a harmony... It's really amazing to spend a time with people who love music too. I noticed that people who love music and perform it are more emphatic. Have you noticed it too? Do you sing in a choir or have you ever sung there?
