This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

If I Die Young by The Band Perry. I just don't like the idea that the song is portraying. Nobody should die young, it's just not natural.

I've Never Been to Me - Charlene

As an ardent feminist I truly loath that song, such a load of patronising demeaning twaddle :angry-soapbox:
We fade away, but vivid in our eyes
A world is born again that never dies.

This thread is going to form the basis of my new playlist as there are so many songs on here I haven't heard before.

My choice isn't really a song but I dislike it so much I have to mention it.

'The Shire and the Hobbits' from The Lord of the Ring Soundtrack by Horward Shore. It makes me cringe and every time I think about Tolkien I think about this piece of music as well. :/

Really? I love that song.

Happy is getting a bit annoying.

I don't know why Miri. It just seems a bit 'twee' and then my husband introduced me to '10 hours of the Shire theme' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xslyQmbqX0E
Also, I don't really like Hobbits (insert guilty face here).

I totally get you about Happy. Maybe this will help make it less annoying for you for a while?

d0drige-

I love Pentatonix!!!! Best group ever!

You're right about the LOTR song- I really liked it in the movie though.

PTX has really improved my opinion about quite a few songs.

"god made girls" by raelynn. my sister in law recently texted me excitedly that she was going to see this artist in concert and i was disappointed. lyrics such as "somebody's gotta wear a pretty skirt, somebody's gotta be the one to flirt" are sexist and demeaning. God did not in fact make girls simply to be objectified by men.

Miri, Pentatonix are fantastic. I was going to share on here some of my favourite songs by them but it might turn this thread into a 'Songs you REALLY like' one....

Saying that...

Oh my gosh! That is one of my favorite Pentatonix songs ever! Okay, song I dislike: Payphone cover by Pentatonix. I love most of their songs, but I don't really like and of the covers of Payphone, and I feel like their version doesn't fit.

Can't decide which one is worse among: 'Sun Daze' (by Florida Georgia Line) and 'Rude' (by Magic!). Ugh.
