I absolutely love Robert Frost and Edgar Allen Poe. I hope that maybe one day I can be near as good as either one!

Seriously though, I couldn't even name a poet off the top of my head. Poetry makes me die of boredom. I've been resurrected about twenty times because of this. Mostly in high school.

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned him yet, but Al Purdy was an amazing Canadian Poet. Anyone who grew up in a small town in Canada is instantly brought back to their youth by his writing. "Transient" is one of my favourites.

I don't write much poetry, but Sylvia Plath is my favorite to read! She is wonderful!

Is it OK to say Dr. Seuss? "Oh, the Places You'll Go" is very inspiring.

The Romantics, particularly Keats. His odes are divine, particularly the "Ode to the Nightingale." Also, his "Hyperion" fragment is wonderful, lucid, and a fabulous sojourn into blank verse. It's lucid and surreal nature make it a kind of companion piece to "Kubla Khan" and the "Rime of the Ancient Mariner."

Shakespeare of course, closely followed by Tennyson and Kipling. They manage to tell such good stories in their poetry. The sonnets of Shakespeare set the standard for all others to be judged by. I still remember Tennyson's 'The Revenge', which I learned in 1948. That tells you what a dinosaur I am getting to be. Good books and good classical music have helped to preserve me.

I feel like Edgar Allen Poe inspired me;
He had such a weird way of thinking and phrasing his lyrical words together. Nonetheless, he was a true mastermind.
