What are the saddest country songs?

This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

I'm not a fan of country music, but if I have to pick one, it's Temporary Home by Carrie Underwood. Made me tear up a little.

I thought Dolly Parton's "Me and Little Andy" and Reba McEntire's song about Ruby Wilson were the saddest songs in the world when I first heard them. I was around six and I remember my face being very wet afterward...

Holy Crud, Nathrad Sheare!! I was thinking the same ones! Those are such sad songs! But I was also thinking Tanya Tucker's "What's Your Mama's Name." Now how could you have forgotten to mention that one??

Oh my god! I feel wretched for leaving out this horribly sad song: "Twenty Years Ago" by Kenny Rogers. Wow...

Oh, I'm like the absent- minded conjurer, aren't I? How could I be so silly?

I hate sad songs...they're so sad! But...I love them...because...well because they're so sad!! They all have such terrific stories behind them, it's hard not to love/hate them. :(

There have been so many sad country songs over the years it would take a book to list them all. A few more are...
I Havent Seen Mary In Years - Bill Monroe
Theres a Star-Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere - Elton Britt
Beyond The Sunset - Hank Williams - Elton Britt and Rosalie Allen did a killer version of it too.
When The Works All Done This Fall - Tex Ritter
Shenandoah - Another Tex Ritter
