I got two admins, gali and Fran, as well as His Excellency the site owner, Scott.
AND OH MY GOODNESS, I GOT A COLORED NAME TOOooooOOOooo ! My name is no longer writ in water.
(DATo pronounced DAY-toe)
In addition to all the administrators I have a whole gaggle of very distinguished posters congratulating me as well. There's bluemel4 and my fellow Dickensonian ryanj1 and rssllue and Graverobber to whom I have left my Trick or Treat candy corn .... Oh my God, I don't know what to say!
*Walks down the runway in tears wearing his royal robe and carrying a bouquet of roses as Bert Parks sings the Miss America theme.*
NOMINATION SPEECH (Heavily influenced by the speech of the last Miss Teen America)
During my reign as Member Of The Month I intend to solve the problems of world hunger and poverty, bring peace to the world's currently warring nations, find the solution to saving the world from its current disastrous path to ecological ruin .... and .... after that ... I am going to get ..... MY VERY OWN APARTMENT !!
Seriously, thank you one and all.

Your nomination speech is so touching. Just think, if you didn't have those old shoes, you could still have a shot at being Miss America. Maybe you can buy some 4-inch sparkly heels.

Thank you very muchly @hsimone. I am thrilled that you have joined my MOTM party.bookowlie wrote:OK, now that you have won the coveted award, inquiring minds want to know....is there a special meaning behind the upper-case/lower case split on your user name?
@bookowlie Nope. I needed to come up with a handle a long time ago in a chat room and I just blindly typed D -A - T and o. I found out later that it is actually a real name (Dato, that is ... not DATo).
Well, I guess I was just too lazy to change it so I've kept it over the last 15 years. No one ever pronounces it correctly though, or so I have found in the few instances when I've met people from the net or spoken to them over the phone. So far I've gotten Dah-TOO, DAY-two, dat (thinking the o is a period), and DAHT-Oh.
Well, I have to admit that "DATo" could hardly be expected to be phonetically phrased as it was intended (DAY-toe) but I've grown accustomed to the name and the pronunciation over the years and like that old pair of shoes I've hung on to it. Of course when typing words on a computer screen it isn't necessary that the pronunciation be correct but since this is my Member Of The Month coronation, and also since you've asked, I thought I would mention it in passing. After all, when the press reports my coronation to the world I want to be sure they get the name right.

Also, I'm glad we got the pronunciation of your username down because I was absolutely saying wrong!
