Imagine by John Lennon(RIP)
"nothing to kill or die for
a brotherhood of man.....
you may say I'm a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one.
someday I hope you will join us
and the world will live as one."
The truck is a 58 Chevy Apache(with 235 straight six, 125 hp, no stepside, big rear window,
unlike the smaller window found in 55-57 Taskforce, 4 on the floor, and probably vacuum
advance windshield wipers). These kind of wipers are powered by the force of the exhaust
as it leaves the vehicle through the manifold and tailpipe. The problem is, when you accelerated(by stepping on the gas pedal), you reduced that force and the wipers stopped
wiping. My first wife and I drove all the way from Taos to Pueblo in a snowstorm one time--
without wipers. I drove all that way with my right hand on the steering wheel and my
left hand scraping the windshield with a broom(I shortened the handle to 24" to make the job easier). When we got to Pueblo(our ultimate destination was Denver) we got a hotel room
and I slept for 16 hours. A week after our arrival in Denver, I located a set of ELECTRIC wipers
and had a mechanic install them. I love Classic Cars, but taking them on extended trips is a
dicey proposition.
Who do girls love more, a guy driving an old Chevy PU or a guy driving an old Ford PU?
