Beginning Italian

Subtitled film about 8 people whose lives are intermeshed..the common denominator being a Beginning Italian class they are all involved with. Takes a look at dysfunctional family structures...grief...love and loss...marriage and death. A very stark look at The Human Condition. 9/10 stars

American Beauty. I watch this movie more than any other movie since the first time i watched it. I dont really know why because the movies not that great.. Its sorta weird. I cant figure out if I like this movie or not so i cant really rate it. But I love Kevin Spacey so i'll give him a 4/5 for his role.

I love this film...and have watched it over and over as well. Kevin Spacey is perfectly cast!

PBS - Hercule Poirot - Murder on the Orient Express. This was with David Suchet. I really prefer him and think he is one of the best Poirots ever. I am a Agatha Christie fan and have read scads of her books. I would say all, but still doing research to find some of her work. She wrote a great deal in her lifetime. It is fascinating that she just stopped when she married the archeologist. But perhaps after writing hundreds of books looking forward to something else.

Before that, last week I watched "The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo". That was really dark. Talk about a dysfunctional family!!!! I don't know about reading the book now. Hate to do that after the movie. What are the thoughts and opinions? Anyone read the book and saw the movie?

Haven't done either... Despite the darkness...how was the film?

The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo -- I thought it was very good. There was a lot of suspense and several plot lines. Telling more would ruin the movie for you. I don't usually read this author (I can't remember her name right now), but I may go ahead and do that because I want to see how much they embellished and how much was the actual book.

I know they have to do that sometimes just because the movie version would not thrill the same, or like Gone With the Wind, War and Peace and Anna Karenina, the movie would be nine hours long!!!!

Do you usually read a book before you see the movie version? Just a question for everyone out there.

Finally saw The Hunger Games...nice adaptation...great casting...loved Harrelson as Haymitch and Sutherlin was quietly dripping evil. I think that if someone saw the film without reading the book they would be lost in several areas. Having read the book before the DVD...it was excellent. 9/10

Dondon - Lady and the Tramp is one of my favorites too. I had two cocker spaniels for many years and now that I am retired I am thinking about getting another. I think my initial love of these dogs ties back to that movie!!!

As far as gore, I prefer pulp fiction. Both the movie and the genre.

Last movie i watched was in regional language. The movie was 'Ek tha Tiger'. It was just time pass movie, not that much entertaining, Even after this it is a great hit and breaking all records in its regional industry because of the fan following of movie lead Actor.
